7lb 8oz according to the specs on Turnbull's site. I've not weighed it myself. It's quite trim though. Not as light as my Winchester 94 carbine, but balanced well and nice to carry and shoulder. It holds on target very well with the extra weight up front. I guess I'll have to stop bass fishing so much and do some shooting and load development sometime soon.

That weight is not too bad. It's a beautiful rifle and I'm very happy for you. Enjoy please. Tony

I find myself just looking at it more than anything - which means I noticed every little flaw. I want to leave my son something special when I quit this world, and as far as material things goes, I can't think of much that's more special than a Winchester rifle!

Welp... got a small spot of rust on the barrel!
I hadn't handled the rifle in a while, maybe a month, and I pulled it out of the gun cabinet and was admiring it, bam, spot of rust about the size of a pinhead on the barrel just forward of the Turnbull logo.
I always wipe my guns off with an oily rag after handling. I keep an oil-soaked rag for the occasion in my cabinet, draped over one of the guns muzzles. I usually take the rag and spray it with Remoil, then wipe the gun and put it back touching only the wood.
I reckon Remoil isn't up to the task for the rust blued finish on the barrel.
Guess I just need to kill something with it and it'll be officially broke in all the way.
I am looking forward to deer season. I cleared some trail today.
Least I ain't dropped it yet lol.

I keep a cotton rag in a ziploc bag with just enough mineral oil to feel it on my hands after handling. This is what I wipe my guns down with and have not had any issues with rust during storage or carrying/handling with my high humidity.

Is anybody commercially selling that Ranch Dog bullet ? Years back, COR mentioned it to me when helping me find a 44M M1894. Forgot about that bullet till now, mentioned above. Try NOE molds. They may have them.

The aforementioned rust. No worries, it's just character!

I've been sighting the gun in lately. I've previously shot it just plinking here and there, some on paper, by mostly at tin cans and such. With the rear sight in the second notch, it hits point of aim at 25 yards with 44 Special loads, which is mostly what I've shot in it. I finally shot on paper the 44 Magnum load I am starting with, the Ranch Dog TLC432-265-RF over 22.0 W296. It shoots low, about 2" low at 25 yards with the same sight notch. At 75 yards it shoots 2" low with the sight at its maximum height. I'm surprised that the Magnum load shoots that much low. I think that the front sight is too tall, and not that I have a heavier than standard bullet. I estimate I need a .375 height front sight to get me where I want to be. I do have a tang sight for the gun, and when I co-witnessed them, with the tang sight at it's maximum, it will bring the point of impact up enough to be dead on or very close at 75 yards. I still have to verify, but at least I'll be able to hunt with the gun this season. The Marble tang sight that Turnbull Restoration provided with the gun. I am not happy with the elongated rear screw hole. Not befitting a Winchester at any price. I suppose that Marble Arms doesn't make one that fits better. I am not sure if I like a tang sight or not. I like the look and feel of a gun with a standard rear sight, but I wanted the tang sight for easier load testing, and for my aging eyes. I am not sure if I'll get a folding rear sight or not. I have a slot filler. I think I'd like to have a folding sight for close in work with special level loads.

I don't know of anyone that is selling the Ranch Dog bullet, but this NOE mould is based on it and is almost identical, less the micro driving bands. noebulletmolds.com/site/product-category/bullet-moulds/432/sc432-267-rf-z4/

A while back I was able to acquire a passel of Lee moulds to add into BulletMatch. I have all of Lee's bullets for 44 to try through the gun as a result. Should be interesting to do a bunch of testing. 429-200-RF 429-214-SWC C429-240-SWC 429-240-2R TL430-240SWC 430-310-RF
