8.2gr Power Pistol in special brass with that 250-K should shoot terrific. I have a factory one just like that (without the Turnbull touch) that feeds the 250-K in special brass 100% and shoots it very very accurately.. that be my suggestion. Won't beat your shoulder behind the steel buttplate like the mag-level stuff does either Those Turnbull rifles are gorgeous.. the wood, the case colors, all of it. Nicest modern winchester there is. Thanks for the load suggestion, I'll have to source some power pistol. It's been on my radar a while now, but I haven't seen any locally for a while. I've been wanting to find some alternative powders to unique, not that I'm moving away, just making sure I can cover that range if Unique gets scarce. I have been shooting some magnum loads, but because of the weight of the rifle, they aren't too bad. I haven't tried benching any of them yet, but that's coming...

That is a beautiful rifle and I don’t know if I would be able to take it in there he woods or not. I might cry the first scratch I put on it. I did put a very faint scratch on the stock, I assume from contact with my revolver. I seen it the other day....WHEW, got that out of the way (didn't cry). Getting a little bit of bluing wear at the barrel band from taking it down, as well as some wear on the CCH at lever and where it contacts the receiver and hammer. Starting to lose that new gun smell and be my own.

I have sent the gun back to Turnbull for them to take care of the issues I mentioned previously. They were gracious enough to allow me a honeymoon period with it before sending it back. Nothing major, but things that bug me. I've spoken with both Steve and Sara on the phone, they are very nice folks to deal with. I guess I won't have to worry about what to use come firearms deer season, as it starts in 2 weeks.
I did shoot it some before sending it back, but I've been too busy to do much in the way of load development for this specific gun. I did shoot some RanchDog 432-265-RF with W296 powder in magnum cases, and a smattering of various 44 Specials loaded with various bullets including the RCBS 44-250-K. It has performed flawlessly thus far, no hiccups, and the bore was clean of leading after shooting the aforementioned RCBS 44-250-K sized .430 and using White Label 50/50 lube.

Winchester rifle is on it's way back. I can't help but be extremely excited. God has blessed me with a wonderful gun that I enjoy immensely.
I'll have plenty of time to do some load workup before next hunting season. I have some loads loaded to test, and I have reworked my shooting bench so it should be ready to go!

Rifles back! It'll be a while before new pictures happen due to poor (pouring) weather.
Turnbull Re-case colored my receiver/hammer/lever. I'm not unhappy with that, but I wasn't expecting that either. I could tell right off, but it's quite similar. So, new pics will be in order.

Welp, things have gone slightly awry. It turns out that Turnbull clear coated my receiver/lever/hammer/butt plate with Cerakote. I had originally had the rifle finished with lacquer. When they got it back for work, they forgot that little detail. So the rifle as it came back to me had the receiver end all re-case colored and clear coated in Cerakoke, while the receiver extension and forearm cap were not altered, having the original lacquer.
They have called the rifle back yet again to address this for me. The inconvenience is a pain, but they seem to be going to the needed effort and trouble to make this right.

Thanks Chip. I love it. One thing I never could understand is when someone gets a rifle like this, they tuck it away in the safe and only bring it out for show and tell, but never use it. I intend to use it. Plinking, hunting, and lots of load development.

Well, now that the honeymoon period is over, the gun has been back twice, I'm now looking forward to working up some loads and carrying it in the woods some. I don't have much time right now, but I did load up a couple hundred rounds while the rifle was at the factory, just so I have some plinking ammo to work with. The load is Ranch Dog 432-265-RF and 22.0 grains W296 powder, a load I'd worked up in a Blackhawk, and then shot some in the rifle when I first got it.

Is anybody commercially selling that Ranch Dog bullet ? Years back, COR mentioned it to me when helping me find a 44M M1894. Forgot about that bullet till now, mentioned above.
