I've been carrying this Case XX Folding Hunter for about 2 years straight. Only rarely does another displace it as my belt knife. My Papaw carried a case nice similar to that in the bin pocket of his overalls, right next to his tobacco, when I was a boy. Red handle and all. It was sharp enough to castrate a stud gnat!

He invariably breaks the tip off of one of the blades, usually not on purpose, and then uses it as a screwdriver. He is 90 years old and still carries one of those knives and a pair of fingernail clippers daily (his EDC stuff). Of course, he has had to get a new knife every few years because whenever he flies somewhere he has to donate the knife to the Feds, he always forgets to put it in his suitcase. We usually drop one of those knives in his Christmas stocking every year so he has a backup.

That Case knife is exactly like my Pops knife that he used for gutting and cleaning every deer we ever shot together! It has a special place next to his Browning Hi Power!

My Case is a new one, model 6265. They've been making that model since before WW2, I think since sometime in the 1920s. The older ones have a lanyard hole, which the new ones lack. They have made them with a single blade as well.

Had an Uncle that worked for awhile at CASE after WW2. Amongst things left, for me were a couple of CASE and a Ka-Bar. A mid size Stockman pattern slip joint was pretty rough. A call to CASE, story told, got me a free clean, adjustment, re-grind to blades, etc..for just my shipping to them. I recently got a Kinzua and a Westline knife. Their next gen, step away from the old slipjoint stuff.

That combo looks ready for adventure ! My recent visit to camp saw me with a favorite pair, the 44 Bulldog and Cold Steel 4" Voyager. The Voyager helped with skinning and sectioning, boning off of deer. The Bulldog didn't have any fun.

Fancy is nice but sometimes plain ole rubber fits the requirement of the day.
