Didn’t know I had that much money in max cylinders!!! MIGHT YOU HAVE 1 YOU COULD PART WITH? Well…….I have a pack of projects…….and I love long cylinders…….and so much quicker than building new ones. I’m due in Cody in November……..I’m going to be building again. Gonna work with my Ol pistol building Buddy’s kid. We will see what I get into…… But if I sell one……you will get DIBBS……just check back……I’m old I have 4?5?……maybe more…….4at least. Best I can say today

I picked up a Max cylinder that had been trimmed already. I wanted to build a 375 Atomic, but the Max's chamber dimensions are too large, so it sits in the safe waiting for another idea to come along.

Was the front cut back too far, meaning you didn't have enough cylinder length for the Atomic? I always hoped others would try our .375 Atomic. It isn't too far behind the SuperMag. -Lee www.singleactions.com"Chasing perfection five shots at a time"

The length was fine for a 1.4" case. The problem was with the 357 Max chamber is larger than .375" So there would only be about 1/4" of regular throat of the proper size. I'll see about doing a chamber cast and post pics.

The front of the chamber measures .379" I was just thinking about using a 375 Win reamer and only running it in for a 1.4" case. Thoughts?

That won't work. The back of the Atomic is 0.414". You're going be short of that running a .375 Win reamer in only 1.40" deep. -Lee www.singleactions.com"Chasing perfection five shots at a time"

What are your thoughts on the throat area of the existing chamber? I think it's too large. I would end up with a funnel shaped throat.

Yes, it's too large. Funnel is a good way to describe what you'd end up with. -Lee www.singleactions.com"Chasing perfection five shots at a time"

The gun: Left to right - 240 gr Martin LFN, .41 Magnum, .414 Martin Razorback: -Lee www.singleactions.com"Chasing perfection five shots at a time"

Seems like you could get a good bit out of the 41 with a longer cylinder And have plans for the max frames

I didn’t need to see that…. I know, has me rethinking my long cylinder mid-frame project. Might need to think about a long cylinder 41 in a large frame instead.
