This is my fourth and likely final attempt of putting the 45 Auto Rim in a Single Action.
This one took little effort...
It started life as a NIB OM Ruger Blackhawk in 45 Colt/45 ACP.
The 45 ACP Cylinder was Counterbored for the 45 AR Rim. Rim thickness was measured and the recesses were cut to leave .003-.005" clearance behind the rims.
The throats were opened to .452" and then the cylinder was reblued.
More after pictures...

Thanks Tim...
This gun was very tight from the factory. Barrel gap on this cylinder is .0015". The 45 Colt is only a tad bigger.
Cylinder throats on this one were .450", but now are .452".
This one will handle 45 ACP, 45 Super and 45 AR loaded to equivalent pressures.
I've got four Single Actions chambered in 45 AR. Barrels are 4.62", 5.5" (2) and 7.5". Will be interesting over the chronograph...

Very nice Huey, but it's not complete without a 6.5 in the group , nothing is final, except death

I've been eyeing data using Enforcer Powder. I'm betting it'll be a hammer in the longer barrels.
No shortage of data for the old 45 ACP. I'm optimistic this will be more useful than anticipated...

Enforcer, now that's serious medicine in a 45, let us know the results of that please, should be impressive from the 7.5 barrel

Thanks Tim...
You can see the impressive velocities that Enforcer produces from a 5" Barrel.
I'm hoping the slower burning properties will show itself in the longer Barrel.
This is standard 21K PSI Data, so will be safe in the Midframe too.

For some reason, during the midst of the "pandemic" I found a few powders priced very well at Brownells, I bought a lot of Enforcer & a couple of other Accurate/Western powders. I am still the proud owner of a fair amount of Enforcer, it seems to run right between 2400 & H-110, as far as loads, certainly using published data I shoot a lot of it in 32 caliber, mostly 32/20 & 327 Federal & a real favorite is a 180 grain gas checked 357 bullet with a good dose of Enforcer. It also works well for me in 45 caliber, usually with a 300 grain gas check bullet in 454 Casull.

I'll compare case capacity between 45 ACP and 45 Auto Rim using Enforcer and go from there.
I'm optimistic this setup will start to show it's teeth.
Longshot, Silhouette and a few other modern powders are showing real promise as well...

I don't have an Auto Rim case to double check, but the AR and ACP were supposed to be the same except for the rim.

I don't have an Auto Rim case to double check, but the AR and ACP were supposed to be the same except for the rim. Outside dimensions are the same except for the rim. Web thickness and internal capacity has varied from my measurements. I just want to check capacity before loading Auto Rim to 45 Super Pressures...
