How old are you? If you have the patience and the years to wait, Dustin. If you want it faster, just about anyone else  I'd look at Andy Horvath for a good balance of quality and time. |

I am a bit biased with Linebaugh. I like the lines of his work along with the fit and functionality. That said John says Dustin is more talented than he is however youll wait a long time for it. I like the lines of Bowens too however I don't own any. But I might.

I was a week away from sending a donor gun to John for a 500. The friday night before i was going to ship my gun, one popped up for sale on Ruger forum and i grabbed it instead. 1 deer and a year later, i would still go with John if the itch for another 500 should arise.

I waited 5 years for my Linebaugh 500. However, I did want an Octagon barrel and had to ask him nicely. At the time he said it was only his 4th Octagon barrel.  |

I'd probably have Bowen build a Nimrod.
Dustin builds a great gun, but I'm somewhere around 7 years since my gun has been at his place waiting to be built. Maybe I'll prod him this spring.

I’m glad I bought my Dustin gun built…..
I don’t think Andy regularly does 5 shot conversions. I know of one. Not that it means much….

Bowen quoted me "about 6 months" on a Nimrod 5-shot conversion last month, which seems exceptionally reasonable for the quality of work.

I'm somewhere around 7 years since my gun has been at his place waiting to be built. Ah, nope. Unless he uses unobtanium to build the cylinder and the grips scales are sourced from virgin unicorn horns, seven years is about 4 years too long for me. |
