I am headed out in about an hour to pick up a 41 Redhawk that belonged to Skeeter Skelton. I have been a Skeeter fan since I was a kid in the 70s. I used to read my son Skeeter stories for bedtime stories. One night in particular Matt got tickled at whichever story I was reading and was laughing so hard my wife got upset. She told me I was supposed to be getting him to go to sleep and now he will be up all night. The gun is unfired. I contacted Bart last night. I guess in a weird way I wanted his approval to shoot it. He said Skeeter would have wanted me to shoot it. To me this is just as important as one of Elmer's guns.   From the 1988 Auction. Item 107  |

Man, that's about as cool as it gets!
You can carry that afield and it'll be like having him along and he'll live on in the field through one of his guns.

SWEET!
Having one of his daily carry, well used guns is one thing many want, but few enjoy. But to have one he had & appreciated comes in a solid second place. MANY of us grew up on Skeeter & his writings. Enjoy the gun!

There is a faint cylinder ring on it. The collector that has had it since the auction never fired it. I am not sure they know how to be sure a gun hasn't been fired. In a way I hope it was. That means Skeeter shot it. I am going to shoot it. I haven't been this excited about a gun in a long time. I wasn't even this excited when I got one of the Lone Rangers holsters. |

In my hands now. As I had suspected it had been shot just cleaned really well. The collector that bought it from the auction never fired it.
He is just a collector which means Skeeter shot it. It is in great, used shape. This is better than unfired. The guy that handled the sale told me he had no idea if it had been shot.

Skeeter Skelton was a real gun man. He probably fired the day he got it.

Glad you got it.................... Me too! LOL That shop that was selling it for that guy is only 30 minutes from here. I called them. they did the background check and I have it in my hands. |

I saw that add, and the gun alone is exciting as hell, Add in the Skeeter stuff, and it is a treasure !
The Bluing looks so nice, ! I suggest you look at Diamond D out fitters Chest holster, not as cool as leather but Comfortable as heck and should not strip the bluing much !
I can be Jealous with out any Bitterness ! !...

Beautiful! I have one that looks like its twin, but without the provenance. Glad you get to connect in this way with one of your heroes.
