Raining Nimrods!

Almost 2 weeks ago I took delivery of a beautiful blue 6 shot .45 Colt Nimrod from Bowen Classic Arms with a 6 1/2" barrel. I was somewhat inspired to have it built by Dick's trip to Africa where he killed many head of large game with Ruger only loads from a 6 shot Colt with a long barrel. I figure that that's really all I'll ever need and I have other revolvers with more if I (for some crazy reason) feel I need it. Hamilton said I got his last extra long custom ERH. I had Zane do the Bighorn grips some time ago before the gun was sent off and it's nice to finally have a completed gun to put them on. Of course it has my "old man" sights of choice. The barrel was stamped with the new BCA small roll mark. I really don't like as much as the old one and I'll ask for it next time. Take note.... Anyhow, I can't wait to get this one out as the weather is starting to turn here. Sorry for the dark pics...





3 days after the gun above arrived I came upon a Stainless 5 shot BCA nimrod for sale on the interweb. I had complained recently about the price of base guns, especially the SS bisleys and not really having a plan yet I jumped on this one. Nothing really to remark aboutit but it's a super nice 5 shot .45 Colt in a no foolin' around configuration. The price was right and I couldn't resist. The gun was built in 2013 per the accompanying paperwork. Nice walnut grips by Joe Perkins. I had never really paid much attention to Mr. Perkins' grips before but they're damned nice.

Another nice .45 Colt Bowen flat top Bisley came as a package deal with the SS gun. I'll post pics later....

Glad you didn’t! I was a little worried too but what looked like scratches etc just aren’t there. I figured with the current climate I wouldn’t lose anything. Seems like someone is alwayw wanting that configuration.

The case colored gun is darn near perfect….

No long cylinder 6 shot .45 Colts.

He’ll do long 6 shot 44s and .41s. Doesn’t want someone to shoot a 5 shot load with a heavy bullet in them by mistake I guess….

Sure do like seeing barrel bands on big bores. Very nice, practical.

I'm not going to lie. I'm really envious! That stainless Nimrod has been my dream revolver since I first read John Linebaugh's writings in 1997. In my very unqualified opinion, the Nimrods are the most handsome, practical, purposeful looking revolvers ever. And in .45 Colt, what more could a man want?
