Ok. I'll have to find some lead fish weights. Not really my kinda place, but... Walmart. You might need to search the rack a bit as they have both eggs and ovals, in both cancer and cancer-free concoctions. And I'll second the recommendation of Montana Bullet Works. Fantastic quality and consistency. Plus they carry everything from a 350 grain LFN to a 530 grain slamma-jamma for the big 50.

Not trying to be a jacka$$, but remember when I asked you if your BFR displayed a star of lubricant on the muzzle? The presence of bullet lube on your muzzle tells you that your bullet lubricant is correctly forming a gasket between the bullet lead and the barrel steel and escorting said bullet out of the muzzle. It is a strong indication of proper bullet/throat tolerances and the lack of barrel restriction. You can certainly go chase lead sinkers and such but it’s pretty easy to just look at your muzzle guys. IF you do see a lube star THEN you need to take a hard look at what you are doing. I already gave you my phone number.

Fermin, the lube star is sign of proper bullet fit. But, it doesn't provide information about bore groove diameter and throat size.
Our guidance was to help determine information to work with.

Does any of the other info matter if theres a good bullet fit?

If you discover you need .512 bullets I have a lot of MBW dual crimp groove 530gr or 535gr I can’t recall what they finally dropped at. I had MBW make them For my 500Max and I needed to order more than I needed in order for them to not charge me for the mold design I asked for.
It’s a great and accurate bullet, I just don’t truly need this many.

Does any of the other info matter if theres a good bullet fit? Probably not...that's why the knowledge of throat and bore groove size is paramount before ordering bullets. Bullet Casters offer different size bullets for a reason. But, you have to know what you need before you order. I use pin gauges, but understand not everyone has a set.

This is why I want to talk to guys and not post. It’s way to easy to take things out of context when a guy reads a post.
Me and Huey have been friends forever. We both have shot lots of BFRs and I’m willing to bet we can agree they have all been tack drivers.
I just got a brand new long barrel biznanna grip BFR 500 Linebaugh that is so freaking nice I’m afraid to write anything about it for fear of injury to my many gunsmith friends.
So the OP is not getting accurate results on target with his new revolver. There’s the revolver, the ammo and the shooter.
We begin diagnosis by looking at the muzzle! Lube star? Check! Pull the cylinder and check the barrel. Is it leading? Nope. Check! What does that leave?
You guys are asking fine questions. I’m just asking them in order.

I’m happy to measure anyones cylinder throats free except for postage. Push a slug down the barrel and I’ll measure that too.

I think we're all on the same page. I just like to know I'm starting out with the proper sized bullets for my revolver.
Many times if you start with the right bullets, you never have problems. If you do, then I use the same process of elimination as Fermin does.
Those who know my love of the old rounds understand this. I've seen 44-40 Throats range from .426" to .432".
This has made me alter my pecking order in loading ammo.
It's not a disagreement, just a different order of checks.
I'd definitely take Fermin up on checking the cylinder throats after getting the base pin issue resolved.
Then order the correct bullets and start over.
I'm not saying it's not the gun, but I've never even read a post about a BFR that won't drive tacks. I've read complaints, but none involved accuracy...

Huey I very much agree. I’m not saying it’s not the gun either. There’s always the first one!!
My best to you old friend.

It would not be the first. I received a 475 with grossly oversized throats. The good news is that the problem was ID'd within an hour of receipt and a phone call had a return tag coming my way pronto: new cylinder, no argument.

I do not know about the lube star. Gun was cleaned after shooting.
I've looked at Montana. But I also want to shoot as 50AK at 1850fps.

And I agree on the brand reputation, bit it did in fact break at about 150 rounds. Maybe something else wrong.
Still waiting to hear from MR.
