Thank you for all the kind words. We only paid the craftsman. John made it happen.
But to answer a few questions above...
How long did it take? This has been over 30 years in the making if you count when I had the fire lit from reading those articles in the late 80's and early 90's. But I do not really remember when I sent in the donor gun but I do know if I ordered another it may take up to 2 years. He has a substantial log of builds plus as he would say...."he has a lot of other irons in the fire."
Why a oversized 6 shot? An oversized 45 Colt will accommodate loads beyond "Ruger Only" loads. Most of the Ruger only loads pack a pretty good punch. Add good bullet selection and what couldn't you do? Rather than turn up the pressure, I'd pick up a bigger hammer - the 500. I have 3 454's and I don't even take them to 65K. This 45 would be plenty for almost anything. And if it's not I would guess 1 ounce of lead from the 500 speeding along at 1100 fps will do the trick. And if it doesn't....maybe I shouldn't be doing that at all. And when I drop a few in with a powder puff load of 231, it's something I could let little kids shoot. I really do believe the 45 colt is about the perfect cartridge for 99%+ of us and the applications. That doesn't change my want for other cartridges.

Truly stunning; Johns work is just amazing. I am looking at having a 45 built with a similar configuration as your most recent. A couple of questions,
What barrel lengths do you have on your two guns?
Also, if you don't mind sharing, what are the "Linebaugh Numbers" of your two revolvers? They should be on the flat on the bottom of the frame, or on his most recent guns I know he put them just under the base pin

Are the front sight lines polymer inserts or painted lines?

I believe it's silver and oxidizes gold. I have the same front sight on my .500 and really like it over the standard ramp.

Are the front sight lines polymer inserts or painted lines? I referenced them as gold bars and he was quick to correct me that they're not gold. Haha. I believe they're either brass or the same material as the grip frame - silicon bronze.

I couldn’t really tell by the picture but does he recess the rims?

I couldn’t really tell by the picture but does he recess the rims? Not on the two that I have. I can't speak to whether he's done it on other builds.

I couldn’t really tell by the picture but does he recess the rims? IIRC he's generally against recessing the rim.

Very Nice! I went back and forth on 5 shot or 6 when I had mine built. I went with 5 but don't think there's a wrong answer.

I am waiting for the almost exact same gun except for my wanting the frame case colored. Seeing yours is going to make the waiting seem even longer. Absolutely beautiful. Congratulations.

Very nice revolver. Sounds like you have a great marriage. My wife is good about my gun hobby and never complains. I recently bought a FA 83 in 475 Linebaugh and my next gun is going to be a copy of your 500. Very very nice work of functional art you have. Enjoy...

I couldn’t really tell by the picture but does he recess the rims? IIRC he's generally against recessing the rim. ***** Chambering with the rim countersink is still necessary for RIMFIRE ammo. Some centerfire rims are too wide to even consider the recess. As Bill Ruger, Jr., observed, it’s easier to machine exact headspace when the REAR CYLINDER FACE is flat. A flat rear face adds a visual check of the cylinder. David Bradshaw

I'm personally not a fan of recessed chambers... even though I always check the chambers... it's nice to see the rims through the gap

I also like the ability to see the rims.
