Ok, admit I am bored. Own single and double action revolvers out the wazoo from .22 to .500. Also some 1911 45's, 10mm, .22's, .357's etc. But I never owned a DE SA (semi auto) .44. Looking for feedback from anyone who actually owned one. Good or bad.

I have not owned one, but I shot one once. It's BIG! I was much younger & had strong Carpenter arms/hands at the time. The DE was an interesting experience. Fairly smooth recoil sensation from what I recall. I could feel the handgun become lighter with each shot.

Back in the 80’s I had a friend that had one and it provided 6” accuracy at 100, but was so huge he rarely used it. I much preferred my AutoMag

They are now making the Automag again, but the price is double the Desert Eagle.

I owned one, with other barrels in .50AE, and .440 Corbon. The .44 was very accurate and did shoot a lot softer than the other calibers. Speer's Blazer aluminum ammo would absolutely NOT function in mine. The published velocity figures on the box were no where close when chronographed. Other than that, I had no trouble with mine. I now own a model XIX in .50AE, and that's my hog gun, now.

My shooting buddy had one of the 41/44 guns, equipped with the 10” barrels, he liked it but couldn’t operate it,,, so most of the time I shot it. The 41 is really accurate, the recoil is easy in either caliber. He passed away a year ago and left it to me. This is a gun I would never buy myself, but I won’t be selling either, not only because of sentiment but it is a good time shooting it. It likes HOT loaded ammo.

Okay. Since you changed the title to Desert Eagle, I understand. I've shot a few rounds through one owned by a friend. Recoil was light, because of the weight, and his was adequately accurate for 50-75 yd. hunting. The trigger reach was a bit too long for my short fingers

Have owned one of the Israeli made 41/44s in .41 Magnum for close to 20 years. It came in a carrying case with the 6" and 10" barrels.
Put a set of Millet Adjustable sights on the 6" barrel and a DE clamp-on scope mount with a 4 power Leupold scope on the 10". At 25 yards it will put three rounds in a ragged hole. At 50 yards about 2" groups from the seated backrest position.
All I ever run out of it for a load is a 210 Hornady XTP or Sierra 210 JHC with 22.0 grains of H110...
Fun gun to shoot...Bob

I had a ball with a buddies 50 AE. That thing was so much fun; like a sack full of squirrels in a Mississippi church FUN! If I got a deal on one in any caliber I would be all over it.

Thanks for the feedback. Decided to buy one but not any in stock in the finishes I like. Put some feelers out to big gun shops looking for one in the brushed chrome finish in .44 mag with the rail on top. I have already done some searching and they are as rare as hen's teeth.

I have a Desert Eagle Mark XIX with three barrels: .44 Magnum, .429 Desert Eagle, and .50 Action Express. The .44 Barrel is easy to shoot with low recoil. The gun is very heavy though. Accuracy is phenomenal. The gun is ammo picky and functions best with ammo that has a velocity range of 1,180 to 1,300 fps. I will say that my .50 AE barrel is the stuff of legend. I reloaded 325 grain Speer JHP Gold Dots with Federal 155 primers, using Accurate No.7 powder. I shot the most accurate group I have ever shot personally. At 11 yds (my range doesn't do 10 yds for some reason), I put 5 shots in 13/16 of an inch!

Good shootin:) They must make these in batches every few years or so. Impossible to find in the finishes I like. How does the recoil of the 50 compare to the 44?
