Thanks, already seen those. My search is for a new model with the optic rails and muzzle brake in either satin chrome or gold with tiger strips. With a Desert Eagle being loud and obnoxious might as well stay with the theme. It will just be a fun gun for shooting gongs in our back yard and maybe a deer or two.

Good shootin:) They must make these in batches every few years or so. Impossible to find in the finishes I like. How does the recoil of the 50 compare to the 44? Thanks! The .50 AE has considerably more recoil than the .44 Magnum. It is a lot to contend with, but not too bad when compared to other .50s because of the almost 5 lbs. of steel the Desert Eagle is made of. It's controllable but kicks brass backwards at you, so beware. I like the cartridge for plinking because I reload. The .44 is at worst like a 10mm recoil-wise. Just remember to not limp wrist. This gun hates limp writing more than most semi autos. And the gun likes to be lubed well. As an aside, my 13 year old nephew loves shooting the .44 Magnum barrel in it. If you get one, you'll have a good time!

Many moons ago my ex GF and I went into a pawn shop and they had a 50 which I asked to see. I looked at it and then handed it to GF. As I did the lady said "What does this shoot?". I found the ammo on the back wall and pointed to it. She took out a round and looked at it and then handed it to me. Then GF hands me the gun. I'm in a pawn shop with a gun and a round in my hand. Quickly handed both back.

Anyone shot a 50AE with the built in compensator on the barrel? If you have could you describe the experience? Thanks

I have an older 50AE that I sent back to have the old style brake added. It added about an 1 1/2” and a half pound or so to the end of the barrel. I helps with the recoil.
It always draws attention when I have it out to play.

.50 has more recoil than the .44 magnum model. That's to be expected in that the .50 usually has more velocity than the .44, and heavier bullets. The .44 Desert Eagle is unexpectedly easy to shoot well. I think you would be happy with the .44 magnum as ammo is found everywhere. I want to eventually find me a .44 barrel in brushed chrome, to match my frame.

Found the finish I wanted and just purchased a 50AE. Decided to go with the 50.....just because. Will be gathering components as they become available. My bet it is will be a few months before it can go BOOM in the back yard. I can always buy a new barrel and a couple of mags in 44 if I want to downgrade.

Do you shooters prefer the OEM or Promags?

Do you shooters prefer the OEM or Promags? I haven't used a Promag, but I've heard bad things so I stick to the OEM mags despite the price.

I love these as much as any other autos i have ever owned. Much more so than my wildeys or auto mags. Mainly because they never fail for me. I own 6 of them. All (IMI) My first was a 357 in Black of course in the Mid 80s, Next was the 44mag, then the 41 when it became available. In 93 i bought a black 50 AE. Oh Hell Ya! My wife confiscated that one. She has small Hands but very long fingers so she can make it work. This one is a blast to shoot. A stainless became available to me in 357 and i bought it to. I traded a custom Single action Built on Friends frame for his 44 Corbone DE. The only other i would like to have is a Stainless in 50 just for the heck of it. I do not have a 429 but if it was the right deal i would get it as well. The gas rigs like hot loads and a good cleaning, but are always accurate. They do require long fingers or large hands my opinion. The 50 doesn't give a hoot. it will shoot covered in grime and under any condition I've been able to put em in. Except of course very cold weather cuz we just dont have that here in Hillbilly Hell. But it definitely has a lot more recoil than the others. An it is a fireball chunking fool at night! I have never had anything but factory mags, couldn't tell you about promags. However for those of us or you that have had an old auto mag, I HAVE NEVER HAD A DE MAG POP OUT UNDER FIRING! Hahahahaha. When i was a bit younger and a lot more hot headed i lost a few mags for my Auto mags not because they fell out under firing and were lost, But because i was so mad when they did, i threw the dam things and then couldn't find them. Lol I think you will enjoy which ever one you decide on!

I've a shooting buddy who used his 50AE a couple times at our local IDPA-style match, always a crowd pleaser.

Remember the 10,000 round tests they used to do. A friend used to be one of the eight guys in a blue shirt loading mags And shooting the pistol. Then the eight split the brass. They got to 3,600 with the 50DE and had used the repair parts. Not published. Not an Israeli gun.
