Dang! A polished Charter arms , never seen that done. That must have taken some doing with all the potholes they generally leave on that corn cob of a finished gun .

Dang! A polished Charter arms , never seen that done. That must have taken some doing with all the potholes they generally leave on that corn cob of a finished gun . Yeah, it came out and was discontinued before I even caught on, but I did manage to snag one.
It's "cool," but it's not easy to get a photo of! I asked Charter if it really was stainless and no chromed, but they swear it's polished stainless. Wipes down easy, but I'd prefer a more subdued finish.
I had some problems with this one but Nick Ecker helped me out. For some reason (guessing current boutique bullet weights/velocities in expensive SD ammo) caused them to file the front sights down on many. Mine was one of them. With 158 and 180 grain bullets over 6 grains of Unique, it shot 8" high at ten yards. They had my gun for five weeks, but replaced the whole barrel and filed the rear sight blade on top and in the bottom of the notch. I have it bottomed out to boot, but it gets there. Their rear sight is not the greatest (I've had many) and I wish it were fixed, but the Bulldog frame fits me better than any other, to include my Service Six.
The Service Six has a hard-to-find Pachmyer Compac-"Professional," with the exposed back strap, which gets me close. I had to round-butt it because that grip was only mad for the SPEED Six. Easy enough.
The SP101 is an early nineties gun and fit me well too, but in my purge, I was trying to shift to all LARGE primers and reluctantly let it go. Yes, it was a mistake. I bought it for $300 and sold it for $400 by the tine I let it go in 2009 or thereabouts, but I really wish I'd kept it now. Marvelous little gun that split the difference between the Bulldog and Service Six for a compact, lightweight trail, woods, field gun which is also still very viable as a daily CCW. Full-out 180 grain 357 Mag loads were not abusive to the hand, but to the ears, it was hideous.
I don't shoot any full-power 357s now and don't hate it anymore. In my carbine, the "gloves come off" for hunting loads and I DO shoot some 180s at full-throttle, getting almost 1800 fps with 300MP. The carbines are the reason I have finally come to love the 357. As just a revolver round (not loading

I love my .357 Magnum.... but for me, the 6" is a bit much too long for CC, and I don't hunt with it. On road trips around Montana, I carry it cross draw. I prefer a 4".... which I carried many years ago while in law enforcement.

Hey Cottonwood,
Welcome to the forum. I spent 3 years working law enforcement in Great Falls, 76 thru 79; not too far from Cottonwood, Mt. I loved the mountains and the rivers; and the folks were about as nice as you could find.
Enjoy what you got.

My favorite .357 is all of them. What scope mounts do you use for those red dots?

For me, it's a 4" Gp100. I recently acquired a 4 5/8 SS NMFT that is quite nice, however. Around here, .357 will do most anything I need doin' while wandering the woods. I do a fair amount of winter hiking after hunting seasons and it's what I typically carry.

I recently picked this one up on trading, and happier for it.... it carries well in the Safariland No. 28 pancake holster. The only thing I'm going to change, is getting the Novak tritium sights for it.

My most favorite .357 Magnum is the S&W m66-8 2.75" having outstanding accuracy Group shot at 7 yards using 158-gr SWC 357 Magnum loads.
