I have always owned a 357 after buying one, it was the second centerfire I ever owned, my first was a 45 Colt, an interarms import. The 357 was a couple years later and was my first Ruger, a Security Six 6", I wish I had it back, but always thought it was a caliber that should always be in my arsenal.I've owned several Blackhawks but ended up with a 6" and 4" HB gp-100's when they were introduced. They were both fine revolvers but never got shot much. They just didn't have that spark in my interest. But served as my plinkers till a few years ago when I picked this Bisley up. It get shot a lot, and is what I consider "my" perfect 357 Magnum, factory stock with the scroll work removed, my trigger and action job, and a set of SK grips I fit to it from an old barn beam with worm holes in Pecan. The 5.5" Bisley is my prefered model in any caliber. But this made the 357 special to me 50 some years later, and won't be sold, like all the others I owned before it.

pacecars,
I've really been tempted myself to acquire a new Python, but I have 2 old beauties that really don't see enough time on the dance floor.
I'm also been caught by the .32 bug and I am searching for a nice 32-20 in an old Colt SAA or that format. Still, when I read about you getting a new Python, my heart took a little hop, skip, and a jump.

I should add a couple more. Both are super accurate and I do love long barrelled 357 magnums. The Ruger has a set of Bantam grips on it now. I'm looking for an older M27 pinned and recessed model. My first center fire handgun purchased in 1978 was a 6.5" NM Blackhawk that I wish I had never sold.

Yall would probably get peeved at me if I posted all of my 357 Magnums. It is my number one most used weapon / cartridge combination used on the ranch. 38 and 357 ammo is about as common as 9mm, can handle loads from mild to wild. I LOVE me some 357!!

My 3 1/2" M-27..... Now that's a fine sixgun. Mine is a pre-model number gun (1954) with the 6" barrel. A 3.5" one is on my short list, but prices for them are crazy!

Never have figured that one out and I was the one that started a thread about it! 1970's Colt Python 6 inch 2 Ruger Redhawks 3 Ruger Blackhawks SP101 2 inch Smith 28 Highway Patrolman Rossi Carbine 2 Marlin JM Carbines Smith and Wesson model 60 and probably a few others I am not recalling at the moment.

It is hard to say I have a favorite .357. The first handgun I hunted with was as .357. The second handgun I hunted with was a .357. I recently acquired a 19 more for nostalgia than practicality but it really shoots good. I guess my favorite would be the 1974 Blackhawk I bought that was worn to a frazzle. I had to replace 90% of its parts. After I got done with it it proved to be a great shooter. What makes it my favorite is the stories I am sure it could tell. It took a lot of shooting to wear it out. This was someone's gun. Planning on killing stuff with it this year.

I posted before but did not have a photo host, so I will share some pics now. Three of my favorites are the 3" SP101, 3" Charter 357 Bulldog and, my most recent, a 4" Service Six. The front sight on the Service Six is a prototype. The original waggled around in the slot, was severely rounded off and was too low. The SP101 has a Smith J-Frame adjustable rear sight installed. The Bulldog has a pocket hammer from decades ago and an abomination of an adjustable rear sight. I wish that one were fixed. I have a "thing" for stainless, 3", five-shot 357s and had been passively shopping to replace the SP101 (yes, I let it go several years ago) when the Service Six popped up and I've been wanting another for 30+ years. I literally paid TWICE for the 42 year-old Police trade-in, what I paid for my last Service Six, brand new in '89, but it was still a bargain at just over $400. It's an inch longer than I prefer, but I'll live with it.
