Interesting.... Very interesting.
It seems many/most of us already have the gold standards: Colt SAA, Python, Diamondback, S&W 27, 29, 19, 17, Ruger Blackhawk, Hunter,
We want the unavailable: Registered Magnums, the Triple Locks, and the rare ones. My grail guns as well.
A site with less "seasoned" shooters I think would have a very different list of the basics.
Prescut An epiphany for me was that I didn't care about rarity as a desirable attribute. I'm much more concerned with shooting accuracy. I guess that's why there are so many flavors of ice cream.

For sure a 10.5 inch 375 super mag Seville with a 357 maximum in close second. I’m sure I could obtain one if I really put my heart to it but for the time being it’s unobtainable. I’ve never even laid eyes on a Seville

Bowen Best Quality .41 Special built on a flat top mid frame gun welded up to accept one of his excellent New Service adjustable rear sights,an ovate barrel and a bisley spur. Then, I'd marry a woman in TX so I could have Paul put some ivories on it with a gambel's quail head carved into them.

...that you can't afford. I've gotten a couple of mine in the past couple of years, much to my surprise. But there are still some out there... Currently my pick would be a S&W I-Frame Terrier in .38 S&W. Prices these days are just out of reach for me. So, what is your number-one pick for a revolver that is out of reach for you? I know it's the double action forum, but I suppose we can bend that a bit if you must. Let's do keep it to models or custom variations rather than specific historically important guns. The S&W J frame snubs in 38 S&W aren't that hard to find, just a later issue..........................

I’ll take a 41 magnum mountain gun! I just got one last month. Love it!
Grail gun that I can't afford? It would have to be Elmer's #5, his Long Range Colt or one of his 57's.

I’ll take a 41 magnum mountain gun! When Gunbroker doesn't have any even at scalper prices, that's odd. I will look that one up.

Bushog, That could end up the most expensive sixshooter you would have! and maybe the only one by the time the lady got done with ya!! Just Thinking Out loud...

I already got my grail gun. A 4” model 57. It is my favorite gun. The one I am learning to do everything with. For me and MY situation, I’d have to say a 41 mag rifle. I know Henry, but $7-800 is steep for my budget.

That's in the plans. I have a few guns on GB right now and am going to start selling a few more to fund some projects. I'd like one of those projects to be an old model approximation of a #5 in 41 Special. I wouldn't mind a copy of his Long Range Colt if I could find someone to replicate that rear sight.

Single actions, probably elmers #5 or Ross's #13 or the 475 he took to Australia. Double action I might already have it. a 5 screw 44 magnum which rivals the registered magnum for rarity.
