Well I have been out of the hospital a week now so had to do some shooting today. 150 rounds of 180gr carbine bullets over 14.8gr h110 out of my OM blackhawk with the aluminum Biznana gripframe and tamarind grips Ronnie made for me. Haven't had a chance to chronograph the load, but it's really heavy. Absolutely no fatigue or discomfort at all. With the xr3-red, I could feel discomfort in my wrist and forearms after about 30 rounds and pain at 80. The biznana does exactly what it's supposed to negating perceived recoil. If only one week after being in the hospital for heart failure for a few weeks and this frame can prevent fatigue and still be comfortable after 150 of my heaviest 357 rounds, I have to suggest that everyone with larger hands try it. I am totally impressed with it.

Tried the BB5 frame on the 45 blackhawk. 50rds of 452664 over a stout load of h110 in winchester 45 Colt brass. 1290fps from the 4-5/8" barrel. Controls the recoil better than expected. No finger rap like I was getting from the plowhandle and factory Bisley grips. Much faster follow up shots. Noticeably different recoil. The muzzle tends to start its flip sooner, lessening the rearward push, but overall the muzzle rises less than with the other grips. Next up I will try some 340 max loads that were pretty brutal before.

Hello all, I am new to the forum and joined because of this thread. Been shooting Blackhawks since mid 80’s and have always been addicted. Very excited to try one of RW Gripframes because the many grips I’ve tried throughout the years have never been quite right. Hogue is most comfortable and shootable but so ugly. My hands wear large gloves and normal proportions so I don’t exactly have a “gorilla” paw, but my pinky doesn’t fit on stock grip. Flat bottom grip fits all fingers but stout loads are not comfy. My current Blackhawks shoot .45 Colt standard and +P as well as .44 magnum. I recently tried the Bisley grip and for some reason all my shots grouped high and right. I am Left Handed. The Bisley grip also caused my hand to cramp. No idea why that is. Maybe after shooting Blackhawk and Super Blackhawk only for almost 40 years I am gripping too hard? The first gun I will look to get RW Grip Frame for is my 4 5/8” Blackhawk in 45 Colt. After looking at all the GF’s I am in need of some direction for someone with my hand size and that type of firearm. Hope I’m not throwing too much out here. I am trying to catch up on reading this entire thread. Regards to all.

I'm partial to the XR3-RED +300. It's basically the gripframe that's on your .45 Colt with 0.300" added to the bottom. Doesn't sound like a big change, but trust me, it is. My dad put one on his .454 Casull Blackhawk conversion and it flat works. Since you're holding lower on the grip, it doesn't roll in you hand. And welcome to the forum. -Lee www.singleactions.com"Chasing perfection five shots at a time"

If it could handle .454, that says a lot. I may have a lot of Ruger GF’s in my drawer over the next year or so.

And welcome to the forum. -Lee www.singleactions.com"Chasing perfection five shots at a time" ***** bigBORR.... Revolver marksmanship----grip pressureMy hand grasps with what I call a HEEL INDEX grip: heel of hand aligns butt of grip. The heel index doesn’t work when the grip is too short or too long. I use the heel index on the Ruger Super Blackhawk and Bisley grips, and on my Ronnie Wells brass Bradshaw Bisley grip frame. Lee Martin and Ronnie Wells share extensive experience shooting powerful sixguns. Grip pressure must not exceed one’s stamina for rhythm, lest tremor set in. Muscle tremor trigger SQUEEZE and is murderous to FOLLOW THROUGH. Heavy recoil requires more grip PRESSURE than light recoil. Yet, a revolver cannot be fought into submission. More shots are missed at the trigger than anywhere else, and by a wider margin. OXYGEN and FOCUS (on sights, primarily front sight), control nerves. “Nerves” is a euphemism for nerve pressure. Deep breathing illuminates the eyes and soothes nerves better than any mind exercise. Axe & hammerThe axe and hammer set examples of how a comfortable grip controls aim. A death grip ruins accuracy with either tool. A comfortable grip which controls the tool allows work to continue. An over-muscled grip soon exhausts. David Bradshaw

Has anybody gotten Ronnie to duplicate a Seville grip frame to put on a Blackhawk? People say they are the same, but there are differences and the Seville is much more comfortable for me than a regular dragoon gripframe.
