Thought I add another one of Ronnie's gripframes to this thread (flattop .44 Spl): • RDW original #5 gripframe • Ronnie supplied the wood which came from Lee Jurras' estate • Case hardening and bluing by Wyoming Armory (http://www.wyomingarmory.com/cch.html). I highly recommend these guys. They did the job in just over 30 days and their price was shockingly low. About 1/3 what many others charge for similar work. • Power Custom Bisley hammer and standard Blackhawk trigger • Belt Mountain #5 basepin • Trigger worked to 2.5 lbs -Lee www.singleactions.com"Chasing perfection five shots at a time"

Just curious Lee, does the upper portion of the backstrap on that grip frame match the original #5 or the Powers #5? It may jsut be the angle but it looks like it stays more "horizontal" for a longer length than the other #5 frames I have seen or owned

It may jsut be the angle but it looks like it stays more "horizontal" for a longer length than the other #5 frames I have seen or owned Rob it is the same length at the back as the Original Keith/Croft. It is on this one just not as rounded at the back as Keiths was. I leave it square so you can massage it to your liking. Some like it squared, some like it round but i leave enough meat on there for you to decide. Lee wanted the extra room so he left it. It is a 1/4 of an inch longer at the bottom which of course you can remove. I took a several pictures of the original and took geometry points from it. Knowing the screw head sizes i used them for size and geometry comparison and came to the conclusive dimensions for writing the program. Added the difference from a colt to the Ruger Blackhawk and, WALAAAAH. R

That makes sense Ronnie if you left more material up there for folks to play with.

I received my RW 3rd Hand last week. It makes dis-assembly/re-assembly on Ruger New Models a breeze. Very nicely made little gadget. Shawn

Guess I’m doing something off. Can only get the link to post. At least the link works. I am amazed at the Absolute Quality of these frames. They bolt on so precisely, so it’s just fit the edges to your firearm. If I can do this, ANYONE can. I’m certainly no gunsmith. Wow, does the brass look great on Stainless steel. I put it on a Reeder 500 Linebaugh with a 6” barrel, as I have a matched pair. One round one Octagon, both Bisley’s both 6”. I will attempt some videos, from the bench, using the same load, showing the difference of recoil using ( RW Gripframes, Bearskinner 4 degree frame) and a stock Ruger Bisley. Hey Bear- Did you ever do the videos? I might have missed that. Thanks

I have not done the comparison recoil testing. Been spending too much time Bullet testing, finding quality bullets, and getting ready for 2 Africa trips. ( very successful too) I know by feel, the recoil reduction is “Awesome possum” to quote the expert. I’m going to move that up on my things to do list. Thanks for the reminder!

I know by feel, the recoil reduction is “Awesome possum” to quote the expert. When Ronnie worked his magic on the panels of my Potato Judge, he knew exactly what he was doing. I cant stop shooting it. The recoil is moved from my wrists and hands to my elbows and is actually exciting to think of a range trip with a 44 magnum now. I have gotten so much better shooting a light weight 44 Magnum now that it doesn't make me want to cry after 18 rounds. My knuckles and the web of my hand doesn't wrench me with pain for three days after a range session either. "Awesome possum" is an understatement, even in the "Expert's" words.

So do we know a approximate weight savings when going to a aluminum Bisley vs a steel version?
