I finally got around to fitting one of Ronnie's grip frames to my 3 3/4 inch barrel Ruger Vaquero. Fits really well, brushed finish brass frame but I think it will always remain my work in progress. Now if I can figure out how to add a photo!

Stopped by my friend Jason's house last night. Jason is a great friend and accomplished gunsmith. Some may know him from the WY shoot and Cold turkey shoot in Wyoming. Jason is a big fellow who is a bit shorter and thicker than I. His hands have nearly the same in palm width and length, fingers are shorter, but his hands are nearly twice as thick as mine, back of the hand to the inside of the palm. When he closes his hand, thumb to middle fingers making a zero, he doesn't have the clear area that I do. I could slip a shovel handle through mine. He's more like a broom handle in the clear. Very meaty in the palm of the hand.
I gave him the little special with the Kaytod MLOP and his eyes light up. I then realized why.
WHY? His palm has the extra length built in! So when he grabs the Kaytod, the gun feels perfect to him. To him the Bisley feel too long, as all his extra meat lengthens the grips "length of pull", naturally. The Kaytod gave him the proper length of pull for proper hand position as the length of pull was made up by his meaty palms. The Kaytod still has all the relief behind the trigger and the full height of the grip, so those of you with large hands that are thick and meaty with fleshy palms, may find this to be comfortable for you as well, something I never dreamed would be a benefit to large hands.
Thanks again to Ronald Wells for embarking on this venture.

Todd, mom said she liked me better anyhow. Your grip frame my might be the solution to my 44 special flattop.

Frank, Mom always said you were a suck-up!
The first Kaytod went on the 44 spl Flattop. I have several folks that have the standard Bisley Flattops, and we will shoot them side by side in about a 1 1/2 weeks. Should be a good comparison. Got some standard pressure special stuff. Some with 14.0 grains of 2400 and a 250 Keith, some with #X* grains of H110 and a 280 Keith.
Next one will go on my wife's 475 Linebaugh. That should be a good proof test if it is comfortable with that level of recoil.

I can shoot that flattop with 260 Keith’s at upper 1100s with that little grip frame and those cheese grater grips it came with. Dang thing is accurate too. I’ll look forward to your shooting report.

Got my Third Hand tool today and it works great. And it ALMOST works with a BFR. The frame is just enough thicker than a Ruger that it won't depress the loading gate spring.

Hang in there seminole, im working on a BFR version. Just needs a little more clearance Behind the cam! Bfr just a smidge bigger at that point. Noticed that last week, but i dont want to compromise our Ruger version. Its been working great since the turn of the century so we will just make another style for you! Glad you happy with it sir. R
