Lots of you guys have probably seen, but for those who haven't : www.hausofarms.com/SSK-50-FRAMES_p_2661.htmlThe price is right. The lynx is a definite improvement. Doesn't sound like you can re-cock the gun without opening the action- IMO the only real weakness in the original design for hunting use. Easy open original Contenders still aren't as slick as the G2, but are a real improvement over the earlier models. Doesn't look like they did any other re-design. Arguably stronger than the TC, though likely not as strong as a G2. I'm curious to see if they'll push a flagship hotrod round for the new frame. I'm on the fence about pre-ordering one. I'd like to have some reports to reassure me that all my old Contender stuff will bolt up.
Does anybody have an idea if the parts from one of these could be used to convert the old Contender frames to easy open?

Now that is really neat!
The ad states that all is cross compatible. Hopefully that is the reality.
"Here is the simplest way to describe the NEW SSK-50 frame, the "BEST EDITION OF THE LAST MODEL ORIGINAL CONTENDER MADE". The exception is that it is made of stronger materials and to more consistent specifications, with state of the art CNC technology.
Manufactured by Lehigh Defense/SSK Firearms in PA, they have revived the legendary T/C platform from the ashes, and this is the best news for the single shot community in decades. David Fricke of Lehigh Defense, was first introduced to the Original Contender 41 years ago, and he is the driving force behind the revival of this platform that was discontinued roughly 17 years ago. He also has a passion for the wildcat calibers created by his friend and mentor, JD Jones, and has a quoted goal of "Making Wildcatting Mainstream" bringing forth the resources of probably the most innovative ammunition and bullet manufacturer to support that goal with ammunition, brass, dies and bullets.
Since this frame includes the "easy open trigger guard revision" all G1 Contender, current production T/C G2, MGM, Bullberry, and SSK Contender barrels will work on these frames.
100% Crossover Compatibility: meaning that all Original Contender barrels, stock sets, grip sets, and accessories will work perfectly on this new frame. Any chambering that worked well on the Original Contender will work as well or better on this frame.
The new SSK-50 boasts a Stainless Steel frame with a black nitride finished trigger guard, black oxide finished hammer and trigger to create a stunning package. The trigger is as good, if not better than the Original Contender's famous trigger that we hear about all the time.
3 frame options are available on this initial offering: 1) The LYNX engraved edition for $275-shipped to your FFL dealer.
2) The HausOfArms Logo (in place of the LYNX) edition for $275-shipped to your FFL dealer.
3) The "Flatside" has no engraving and has an up charge of $40 as these are hand selected for finish perfection, just like the old days at the custom shop, shipped to your FFL dealer.
Unlike standard T/C offerings that we have been accustomed to where the frames are designated at the factory and shipped with the appropriate stock or grip set. These frames are not designated therefore can be used for either pistol or rifle just like an AR lower checking the "other" box on page 2 of the 4473! If a full firearm is shipped then that would designate to either handgun or long gun box being checked on the 4473.
Lifetime factory warranty.
Enjoy, Marty"

Color me interested... looks like it also has the switchable hammer for rim fire and center fire... I have 3 original frames, always wanted a stainless action, specifically for foul weather hunting

Enjoy, Marty ***** Marty.... when the Elgin Gates commissioned Thompson/Cenetr for an edition of IHMSA Contenders, I got with the gun’s designer Warren Center to request a plain flat receiver. "We can do it,” he said, "but the frames will have to be selected.” Warren then explained the reason for decorative etching of the Contender frame----to hide surface irregularities in the investment cast part. Towards the end of the project, Warren Center told me the rejection rate for IHMSA receivers was higher than anticipated. Nothing to do with strength, strictly cosmetic. In addition to the “solid frame” construction of the T/C receiver, additional cost for plain frame indicates this remake of the Contender is by lost wax casting (investment casting). It would be exceedingly difficult, if not impossible to start the frame with a drop forging. Same applies to solid frame construction of Ruger double actions, and large frame Dan Wessons. The sideplate frame----as seen on S&W and vintage Colt DA’s----is a feature of manufacturing process, namely drop forging. David Bradshaw

My search for an original flat side Contender finally paid off a couple of months ago. I grew up with the cougar, but I had in the back of my mind a frame for CCH that fit some of my nicer G1 wood. In hand, it is probably too nice to molest with CCH and a G2 from Haus Of Arms/Turnbull might be in my future. The flat side offering from SSK is welcome, though the lynx is already an improvement. As stated, it implies manufacture technique similar to the original frames. Nice as it is, it's stainless.

Why am I so tempted by this? lmao I have two blue frames and one stainless... and will likely have another coming to me in the future. And I haven't fired any of them in a couple years now. And YET.... tempted.

Fan of the original here too... I've got a few of them. Having to open and close the action to cock the hammer has never been an issue.

I have 4 contender frames myself. An angry cat blued, angry cat stainless, G2 blued, and a original 5 digit serial that I suspect was hard chromed by SSK. Also have a hard chromed 357 max barrel.
I’d love to have a new flat sided stainless frame
