...hummm....I have three Contenders and now two G2s. One G2 is out of the old Fox Ridge Custom Shop and has gold inlays on the slabs. The other is a recently manufactured one from S&W...all of them shoot great. Bought the G2s just to shoot the Magnum calibers as they tend to bite a little more with the Contender frame than I care for...
Sorry to hear that the SSK deal didn't go well...

Well, the saga continues...........
First of all, I am NOT gloating and do not wish to tease or taunt anyone here, but I FOUND an nice stainless Contender frame for a little more and I snatched it up. I don't have it yet. Sent the man funds and wait now.
Second, I wish some sort of similar luck in your own wait and search and will stay tuned.
Here's a cute little trick: I was going to buy a stock set from Haus of Arms for $88, but was going to wait until the SSK50 frames shipped so I could save THEM some shipping. They would have shipped both separately for free, but I figured I didn't need the stock set until I had the frame, right? No good deed goes unpunished. The stock set increased in price by 20% while I waited for the SSK50!
I ALMOST bought a G2, but that fell through. I'd prefer all of mine were one or the other, but a G2 would have handled a couple "G2-ONLY" barrels MGM sells. The 6.5 Grendel and 375 Winchester both intrigued me, but DANG, MGM's barrels got even more expensive since I bought mine and that was only two(?)years ago! Finding this original SS frame saved me that much more money.
Well, I'll have $350 in the frame by the time I get it home, but these are getting hard to find, prices on everything are unbelievable and if I wait another year, two or three years,.... that's another year or three I don't have it and am not enjoying it's use, so I bought it. I have gotten more patient (about SOME things) as I've gotten older, but the older you get, the less patient you can afford to BE!
Still, someday, there may be a G2 on my rack. Since I Have enough original frames, on which to store the majority of my barrels, I CAN wait for a G2, and I CAN wait for prices to stabilize - or at least wait for someone Jonesing for the "next new thing" who has to sell some other "older things" cheap to get it.
OK, off to find a stock set. Missed a couple butt-ugly spray-painted ones cheap a few weeks ago.

I know I've done my share of grousing about this topic, and maybe took part of some others' shares, but I had to log on and share this:
Ive been trying to find a stock set for the Contender frame I just bought. Prices took a gigantic (20%) leap and EVERYONE is apparently aware and has adjusted their prices, but none of them had one in stock, so I decided to order it from H of A.
EVERY time I sat down at the computer to order it, I got interrupted and then forgot. After several days of that nonsense, I decided I'd better just call in the order while on my way to work, so they didn't run out. Got voice mail. Later that night, while in class, they called back, left ME a voice mail to call her back so she could help me.
Well, I had a chance to sit down at the compute late last night (actually EARLY this morning) and placed my order online.
I had planned to call her back today when I had a minute, to let her know I was "good" now, but she beat me to it and caught me on the road.
RUTH! That was her name, and I must tell you that she is a gem. Conscientious, competent, polite, thorough, efficient and just a great lady. That kind of behavior is rare and can get you fired from a lot of places today.
I explained that I was "good" and that I didn't need to bother her further, but she insisted on looking up my order and making sure it was all OK. I was ten minutes from home at that time, but when I got home, I already had an e-mail confirming the order SHIPPED! OK, st least a label was created, but still.
I wasn't feeling too warm-n-fuzzy about H of A lately, but wasn't going to write them off completely either, but Ruth made my day and made me feel a lot better about this SSK50 fiasco. I'm always impressed when the people "in the trenches" (mail carriers, "bag-boys," CS reps) who carry the day by out-classing their "superiors."
Here's a shout out to "Ruth," of H of A!
It's not that she really did all that much for me as much as that she cared to do it.
Sorry for rambling on. When "kids" show me some sense at the Taco-Bell drive-up window, Rural-King cash register or Lowe's loading zone, I make it a point to show them I appreciate it and try to encourage them to keep being like that, so I HAD to put in a plug for "Ruth." Actually, Ruth doesn't sound much like a "kid," but it's still getting to be rare behavior to care about what you do and to take care of people.

BTT. History for those interested in the current revelation that S&W is divesting its T/C business.

This is EXACTLY why I requested a refund. There just seems no end to the ever changing stories.
There have been too many promises that weren't kept.
