LOL, YET, it didn't!
Nor did it on Y2K.
We have until January, remember. Maybe Marty will have those actions ready by end of year.
I'm not seeing any bare actions online for sale, except for those priced well beyond my means or motivation. Odd how far-reaching the "shortage" goes when everyone uses it as an excuse to jack prices up on stuff whether it has high demand or not. The stock set I was going to buy from Hause of Arms (when the SSK 50 came in) was $88 up until a few days ago, and now it's $110! That's quite a jump at 20% and it's not even the first of the year!
I'm not sure if I'm "holding out a while longer" on purpose, but looks as if that's what I'm doing too!

I'd rather be celebrating, but instead, I'm only observing. Today is the first anniversary of ordering and paying for a SSK-50 Flatside. Thankfully, it's small potatoes in the scheme of things, so it's not a financial concern. "Original" Contenders are all I've ever had. I don't even know what an "Easy Opening" G2 frame feels like, and have never considered my uneasy openers to be a nuisance, let alone a problem. But let's hope it's all resolved before my second anniversary!

Yeah, I'm out. I could wait, but the BS and the attitude is not worth tolerating. If I were dealing with an experienced adult with a realistic perspective, you can bet I'd wait.
I just placed an order for a stainless G2 with synthetic stock set for $365 shipped. NOT with the same concern touting this new vapor-ware. The stock set I intended to order when the SSK50 was ready has increased 20% in price since the wait began. Mmmmmm, NO, not for me. I'm moving on.
The only thing really wrong with this whole mess is that someone got way, WAY ahead of himself touting this "major achievement."
Maybe it'll happen.
Maybe it won't, but you don't go runnin' your mouth about all the wonderful things that MIGHT be - you keep your yap shut until you KNOW what WILL be.
Blaming the foundries only reveals a character flaw. Shoulda kept yer mouth shut.
Bemoaning the snags and snarls of production only reveals a character flaw. Should kept yer mouth shut.
I guess that's a sales v. engineering thing, and I apologize to anyone associated with sales without the advantage of having been in engineering.
I like my original Contenders, but I don't need the complex trigger, in fact I'd rather not have it. I supported this project as long as I could for the sake of those who appreciated the original more than the G2. I don't see SUBSTANCE behind the promises and blame, so I'm moving forward.
I will see when I get my first G2, but I'm thinking that for my own personal purposes and competence, I'll prefer the G2 anyway. If that shakes out, I'd gladly trade my originals to someone who shoots way better than I for a couple good G2s. My originals are exquisite, but better than I am capable of exploiting to their fullest potential. I'd be OK with someone "better" than I having and shooting them and I won't feel badly about not supporting a wet dream of a project which may eventually pan out, but was over-hyped way too much, way too soon.

i think i will hold out till spring after that i think the g2 is where i will go too. i was told when i ordered that they had 500 casting in hand at that time now there is none i think there is some story telling going on. starting to think they are politicians nothing but empty promises.

What I've seen too... The wait is acceptable. The dishonesty and "in your face" attitude is not.

Last two posts make me feel a little better - it's not just me being impatient and grouchy. A line was crossed with the "attitude" and dismissive treatment of the delays - the reticence. I wonder if maybe that isn't part of the issue with the vendors (foundries)? I suspected that many months ago, but waited.
I really could afford to wait longer for the SSK50. If I'd been told "two years," from the start, I'd have waited. Trust is broken - and I don't trust that it will ever come.
The biggest factor for me is that the deal that popped up on the G2 was too good to pass on right now, both for the price and for the fact that something useful to me was actually IN STOCK. Now, I'll have an opportunity to try one out beside my originals.
I'd PREFER to have all originals or all G2s for the sake of component compatibility - "spare" or replacement parts. The older I get, the faster "they" discontinue (and stop supporting) tried and true models, so whether something is in current production doesn't seem to matter as far as parts go, except that you don't see scalper's prices. Having multiples of what yo like is a much more sure bet. You can still use your stuff (just less of it) while you look for parts.
So, I have a stainless G2 with a synthetic sock set on the way and I'm money ahead - something to look forward to.

The foundry (political) issue doesn't really make any sense to me in that SSK should have seen it coming. Picture this: S&W buys TC arms and continues to source Contender frames through Thompson Investment Castings for over a decade. S&W finds out SSK is going to try to clone the Contender and use S&W's foundry partner to help them to do it.
Why would SSK think S&W would not find out and/or why would SSK think S&W would not object and apply pressure on TIC? Naive or what?

DAGNABIT!
Foiled again!
My order was cancelled and money (supposedly) refunded on my G2 action order.
A line has been crossed on what level of luxury I am willing to sacrifice in the name of National panic and global pandemic!
I'm officially irritated.

Too bad. I was looking forward to seeing one. Glad I didn't jump on the bandwagon. Learned long ago some things take time and maybe never. I loathe the G-2 and was hoping to replace mine with the SSK50s.

I'm on the other side of the fence and own an embarrassing number G2s.
Finally got my money refunded for the SSK-50 before the next excuse was thought up
I'll probably buy some, but no more preproduction deals for me...
