Yeah, I know, it's not on the barrel, a barrel wrap. The Alaskan just doesn't have much barrel to work with ! Kinda a no neck thing. Then, I didn't want to cover up that lovely logo..

Got one of those red pine “tree rats” that had gotten into the walls of the old farmhouse tonight... I cut down a full sized walnut tree that was too close to the house, they were getting on the roof too easily, on Saturday morning... bought some better rat traps later... Mrs has been hearing them on top of the suspended ceiling in the kitchen and the other rat trap had the smaller paddle has turned out to just be a feeder... caught our 1st “buck” tonight, picture in the morning picture here with the "rat" in the new trap, the old trap with the smaller metal tray empty of animal & peanut butter... got 2 new traps back up there hoping to catch another... assuming there is a pair... at least if they don't get tripped, I'll know I got what is in the house... now to get on the roof, & look for a chew hole through the vinyl siding...

Luck with the war on those varmints ! Our hunting camp has same problem. We have several pine patches on the property that support seemingly large numbers of the critters. I just bought a brand new nearly all plastic Victor rat and 2 mouse traps. The mouse traps for my garage here. The rat trap going up to camp next time I go. Over the years more than few have been invited into the Croc-Pot.

Just started carrying my new to me, 4” stainless prelock J frame in 22 LE... to to try it on some paper before I brag or complain about my handgun hunting prowess, but if new outside dog show a squirrel in a pasture tree, it may get tried out today... loaded it out of a fresh brick of Federal Gold Medal Match ammo... looks like I’m taking away all my excuses, except for poor shooting, if I should miss

Been too busy to get the new 22 J frame I've been carrying in that Simply Rugged flap holster, to paper yet, but still carrying around it none the less... outside doggie let me know last night, there was a "crack rat" in a maple tree in the pasture, when I was doing chores... I walked over, & it was a small one trying to hide, way at the top of the tree... I thought I'd give it a try... pulled the hammer back, & ended up shooting off the small branch it was clinging to at the top of the tree... "crack rat" free fell 4-5 feet before it grabbed onto another branch, & in a matter of 10 seconds blasted through a whole line of trees, & I heard it jump onto the tin roof of the machine shed 100 yards away... when it was free falling, thought it was going to land on top of me... will try to get the lil gun to some paper soon, so I can dial it in a little better... if I had been aiming at the 1/2" thick branch, I'd have been pretty happy with that shot

MRS almost had a shot at a big Coyote on Tuesday this week, in our front yard... I was just leaving after coming home for lunch, & spooked it when I hit the driveway... one of her girlfriends guy is one of the guys in a group that get a lot of coyotes each winter... she gave them a call ( we still have sheep outside, don't need any hungry coyotes hanging around )... they got 2 in our neighborhood the other day, before this latest storm hit... the bigger one on the left was shot out of our front yard ( actually in the field about 75 yards from our actual yard )...
