Ok it arrived this afternoon and suffice it to say all my housework and yard work came to a screeching halt!!!
i was able to get pictures in the setting sun so light was nice, but the flat black of the gun makes for interesting picture taking. i spelled out the particulars in the handgun blueprint topic, but I’ll repost it here for easy viewing. Zane is supposed to post pics here later. Large frame Vaquero and bisley grip 4” straight octagon barrel Fiber optic front sight, JRH fabbed a small ramp with a ever so slight rise at the muzzle to blend into front sight. Small rear sight modification of my own idea, to provide a crisper view of the Vaquero topstrap, I have issues with the rounded back surface and seeing a good sight picture. JRH grip mod and Black micarta grips with slight gray layer Slight round butt of grip Originally the gun was to have both highly polished and matte surfaces, the moving parts and pins were to be polished and all else beadblasted matte, the entire metal surface Black Nitride. Issues with getting a clean polished look to some of the surfaces required a change to the entire gun getting a matte finish. Button base pin with a head I’m not familiar with, but I like it. Checkered ER button Don’t know what the trigger breaks at but it goes bang right before my brain is telling me it’s enough pressure on the trigger. 500 Linebaugh
My hopes are to run 400-450’s at 1000ish for everyday loads, and 465-475gr at 1150ish for protection.

Two of the pics show a new holster I had made while I waited for it to arrive, Bullard Holsters included my business logo on their makers mark band, and finished of the lined holster with a nice basket weave, the crossdraw is raked shallow so wearing it while driving will be a bit more comfy.

Whoa!! The Beast.
That button base pin will give you that little extra on the Ejector being as it's short. Nice touch by JRH.

Yeah, I like it a lot. I really like the way that particular Micarta looks. I think I'm going to take a look at your holster makers wares too.
There's been a few nice Bisquero's posted lately 😁!

I would think a bear would have a heart attack just seeing that revolver pointed at it! That is the most functional trail gun I have ever seen!

That is one “no BS” serious piece of hardware right there! It looks like is a single action version of a double action though. Squeeze the trigger and it bites on BOTH ends😊

Functional is what I was goin* for,......I tend to lean heavily on being pragmatic,. I like a good functional tool when there’s work to be done, Ive seen some gorgeous guns on this forum, I do like CCH, and engraving, and Carbonna bluing, my next custom will probably have some of that. But my all time favorites are the tools that get pulled out for use the most, when serious work needs to be done. The diesel trucks, the mules, the big ugly dogs, the old Carhart coat, the dependable, reliable, friend that never says No, when you need them.
I’m hoping that’s what this gun becomes, my new favorite packing pistol. I still need to shoot it, and chrono to see what loads hit my marks and of course accuracy will be of utmost importance, I’m anxious to see at what distance an 8” plate will be safe at.
Max, thanks for the inspiration, that little 480 you had I came really close to buying, but since I already had .a 512 rifle I thought keeping things simple might prove better.
