Got a new Bulldog this week. Bought my first Bulldog in '83...let it get away and have regretted it for a long time. I have other Bulldogs, 2.5" and 4.2" Target, but have always missed the 3" model. I decided the other day to just go ahead and get one. So, I got on GB and had one on the way, quickly. It arrived at the dealer Monday afternoon and I promptly got by to pick it up. I am very pleased with it...very well finished, tight and a very smooth action. I have put some generic ammo..250gr 429421 bullets over 231 through it and it is a good shooter. I did add a Pachmayr to it as I have all of my Bulldogs...makes a big difference in accuracy, for me. I still have to load specifically for it....I like Power Pistol for the Special to keep the pressure down. I have several bullets that I cast and shoot in the Specials...I will give a couple of these the opportunity to fill the bill. I am a longtime fanboy of 44 Special and the Bulldogs. I have a sack full of single action Specials...but the only double actions I have are all Bulldogs...I really don't care for the Smith's or the GP100...kind goes against the essence of the Special (they are too big)...at least in my opinion. At any rate, for what the Bulldog brings to the table, it is about the only game in town...small, lightweight bigbore firepower. Pretty red bullets...lol. Bianchi 5BL small rev holster

I absolutely agree. My 4.2" A.S. model is tied with my Reeder Bearcat 22 Mag for my most faithful companion.
Amazingly, it weighs 2 oz less than the Bearcat.

My most carried has been a Cimarron...many hours and miles with that little gun...but I have shifted to the Bulldogs simply because they are so light...I am tired of carrying unnecessary gun weight. I live in GA...not many grizzlies around here...hog is about the most risk that I face and these cast bullet loads will settle the dander on a bad hog or 2 legged varmint, quickly.

I only have one bulldog... & it's this old thing... it's antique ( most likely unfired when I bought it ) an American Bulldog, chambered in 44 American Bulldog... it is centerfire, & I load it using shortened 44 Special cases, trimmed about an 1/8", & the rims are thinned slightly & I use about 3/4% level 44 special loads, & light 44 caliber bullets... it's an amazingly cool gun, barrel & cylinder are perfect, nice & tight, has a rare loading gate, for a revolver of that era & still visible case coloring on the hammer ... & look an octagon barrel I should buy a new Bulldog, as I love the 44 Special, & like to carry light revolvers myself

JIMLUKE... I pretty much agree with you on your opening statements... but I'll add the S&W 396 is about near perfect as well... 5 cartridges of heavy bullet loads almost double the revolver weight, it is so light with the aluminum "scandium" frame & Titanium cylinder...

I like the 396 and if I lived in different environs I would have one...I assume they will handle the Keith loads pretty well...except for maybe the shooter. JIMLUKE... I'll admit, that the 396 is one of those guns, that has become worth more than it's actual value as a tool ( so, as perfect as it is, I rarely carry it )... the new Bulldogs are priced just right to use as they were designed... I've been wanting a stainless one for a while now

This 3" gun is stainless...it just blued over, some kind of way. Yeah, well, the dealer listing was wrong...he probably assumed it was like the 2.5" gun and I haven't cared enough to go look...didn't matter to me as I wanted the 3" barrel in whatever it came in.
