32 Mag/ 327 Fed/ 30 Carbine Miha 314-640 Important UPDATE

We are going to run this group buy with a bit of a twist. While it is my intention to re run all three of the Miha 314-640 designs, (100, 115, and 135 Large Hollow Points) the one I am seeing the most requests for is the Miha 115 grain Large hollow point cavity, so we are going to run this one first. These molds normally come with 3 hollow point designs, a Large, a Medium, and a Cup point. Sometimes Miha will substitute a penta-point for the medium but that is up to him. The molds also come with a flat pin so that you can cast a solid if you choose to do so. The reason we are going to do these buys one at a time is because many guys cannot afford to buy more than one mold at a time.

Now, here is where the twist comes in. We are extremely fortunate in that we have BobK on our forum who not only designed these 640 styles but did so in a manner that they should size from .314" all the way down to .308" with minimal distortion and thus serve well in the various 30 caliber sixguns. In order to prove this theory, we have a few of our more active and knowledgeable members testing this theory out. It is looking very positive at this time. What we are finding out in the case of the 30 Carbine is that success depends on the thickness of your lot of brass and of course chamber dimensions. State how many molds you want, plain base or gas check, AND IF YOU WANT IT TO DROP AT 314" OR 311" DIAMETER. Example: 1 mold, plain base, .311"

What I would like to see is there is enough interest to split the group buy into 2 groups, one for .314" (32 caliber) and one for .311" (308 cal).

If I get enough call for a .311" bullet, I will ask Miha if he will make us that cherry. If not, we will continue to see if our .314" bullets will continue to be successful in our .308 sixguns. If so, then everybody will be using a .314" mold for both. As I research the 30 Carbine, it is very difficult to gather any useful data for all the "it's so loud" constantly echoing in the background. Lets try some ear plugs and remember, you can always stay at home and watch TV. Personally, I cant wait to see a Sledgehammer come out of a 300 GNR at 1800 fps hit some meat....

Personally, I cant wait to see a Sledgehammer come out of a 300 GNR at 1800 fps hit some meat.... I can tell you what will happen, the bullet will come apart inside the chest cavity (dependent on the alloy you use and it's heat treatment) and drop most things in their tracks... the base and a part of the lube groove will exit the other side.

For the 327 Single 7 fans this cast bullet is nearly perfect for varmints and pests when used with the large HP cavity option. My 7 1/2"'S7 has an exceptionally smooth barrel and I can cast this bullet as soft at 10 BHN and using a gas check drive it just short of 1500 fps using H110. Big tough rangy Texas Jackrabbits hit fairly are switched off instantly and the resulting wound channels are quite impressive for such a small bore. But then again, we have tread into low end .357 Magnum territory with no where near the recoil or blast but instead a much flatter trajectory! My good friend Dick "Sixshot" Thompson has slain all sorts of Idaho critters with his so we know it's an excellent bullet for field work. Last, the 640 nose design, the brainchild of BobK, has proven itself accurate in every caliber we have employed it. Even if you only think you may someday cast, you should get this series of molds!

We are already at 7 molds

Remember, I also need to run the 135 and 100 grain large HP versions of the Miha 314-640 molds. You guys need to PM which one you want to see next. Both Hoover and I believe the 100 grain Miha 314-640 is optimum for the 32 H&R Magnum as it simply provides all the accuracy you can hold and excellent velocity potential. Dick Thompson and others have also had great success with this little cast wonder. On smaller critters, it is just excellent. The 135 Miha 314-640 takes the bigger cased 32's into 357 Magnum territory without the recoil and the blast. It kills all out of proportion to its size and when cast to maximize expansion delivers tremendous wound cavities while the "shank" of the bullet stays intact and punches all the way through. At this time, the most we have asked of it has been with the 32-20 which delivered just over 1500 fps. We are pretty sure there is yet another level of power, we just need to explore that potential. So it's a toss up, you guys PM me and I will run either one next.
