Got to the range to get my wife's new elk rifle on paper and do the break in process. Time to back up to 200 and fine tune. The Springfield 10mm TRP is back from warranty work. It's running better. Plus I discovered one mag has a hangup. Not sure what yet. No failures with the Ed Brown mags. Popped a 1/2 gallon milk jug at 50 with the 500 on the first shot. Enough to make me want to go back.

Working with heavier bullets in my Mike Bryant 30BR Hunting Rifle. Don't know what the velocity is yet (+2500 fps?) but it sure is accurate! Bullet: Nosler 155 gr. HPBT Custom Competition Powder: H4198 29.0 Primer: Wolf Small Rifle Magnum Case: Lapua 6mmBR Reformed LOAL: 2.268 (1.692 Base to Ogive) Avg. Vel.: 2433.76 fps ES: 46.43 SD: 13.67 Checked the velocity yesterday, slower than expected. Three shot groups at 100 yards. And the last three at 200 yards (.816 inches)

Last silhouette match of the year at the local club. Got some sight settings after the match with my Cricket 22 pistol at 200 yds. Winds were strong and switchie all day.

I went to the range today to put more time in behind the 300 WMs before we head out elk hunting next month. I've been wanting to chronograph my 500s and finally added that in today. -500 Linebaugh, 410 gr LBT, 16.0gr HS-6 averaged 1,017 fps -500 Linebaugh, 450 gr Keith, 15.0gr HS-6 averaged 942 -500 Wyoming Express, 370gr LBT, 12.0 gr Titegroup averaged 1,104 Plus I took my new (to me) carry piece for the trip after installing the Fermin Garza special front sight and the Bowen rear sight. If you zoom in on the picture with the revolver, that's 3 shots at 25 yards. Yes it was not centered by that's before I started moving the sight. And, no....all the targets did not look like that. There's a saying about blind squirrels or pigs... Also, I was shooting at the end of the day. I shot handloaded 44 Mags with 240gr XTPs on top of 24.5gr of H110. Quite the fireball. I was using these for sighting in before I tested where the Buffalo Bore loads printed. I will confirm there loads are as advertised. No flash whatsoever. That made a huge difference. Until next time.

mp molds version of the HG 503 showed up the other day, time to put it thru the paces! deep seated over 5.5/W231 was disappointing on both PC and 50/50 lube, 9.8 Unique did a bit better (3-4” at 50 yards) but failed to match the posted target. 23gr H110 not as tight likely due to the 1) shooters disagreement with the Super grip frame or 2) too soft an alloy….my guess is #1

I'm behind the times again, this week has been a good time to get the 12.7x60r running.
I'll get photos up at some point of the 100+ year old 6.3lb Austrian cape gun with it's scalloped action and rebounding back action locks, aperture sight, and set trigger etc
I'm getting 1400fps with the 440gr .500 diameter WFN bullet
The gun is accurate

With deer season coming up I figured I'd better get one of my rifles ready! My Tikka T3 .308 Winchester had been given a good cleaning with all copper removed from the barrel - so I made up 50 rounds and went to the range. First and only three rounds fired at 100 yards. Gun was still holding zero so I set the rest aside. This is a good load and deadly on whitetails. Bullet: Sierra Pro-Hunter 150 Grain Spitzer Powder: IMR-3031 43.0 grs. (30 April 2013 Lot #1637) Primer: CCI-BR2 Case: Winchester LOAL: 2.750 (2.205 with Stoney Point) Average Velocity: 2761.01 fps Extreme Spread: 10.08 Standard Deviation: 4.24
