Shot my 10" FA 41 & my Ruger bisley 45 from just over 50 yds yesterday from the sitting position using my Barranti sling at the plate racks. Using my African loads to make sure they are zeroed, they are, except for a real heavy load in the 45. I have to use a 6 O'clock hold with the 325 gr LBT & a heavy charge of H110 & it's a real hammer, the other loads I hold dead center on the plates. I have my African ammo taped up & boxed up, ready to go.

Dick, something to check, when we were there in April, the ammo had to be in a locked container, in your luggage, not gun case. I just picked up a 50 round plastic ammo box with a spot for one of those little cheezy TSA locks. I’m using the same for the September trip, as I haven’t heard different. I’d rather be extra safe than sorry. Michael

Yes Mike, thanks for the heads up. I have my taped 50 round ammo boxes in a pistol box that is lockable & it goes in my checked baggage. I'm set to get my covid test next Thursday & also get the results the same day because we fly out of Salt Lake Friday at 11:20am for Atlanta. Then the biggie, 15 hrs non stop to Joberg. A one night lay over in Joberg & then off to the Limpopo Province.

.38 Special, 158gr. LRNFP over 4.3gr. W231. Very smokey! Seven yards DA, first rounds through this new-to-me old gun.

Classy looking old Colt & good shooting! Do you think the smoke was from the powder charge or the lube?

IME, W231 and lubed bullets can get quite smoky.

I have been busting my hump lately on the ranch. The oil company piled up crushed limestone 12 foot high, 30 feet wide and 150 feet long. They said we could have all we wanted so we have been hauling all day every day with our 8 yard dump trailer. Between my Father making a run I decided I had the best shooting berm in the county so might as well shoot a little. At 35 yards I started out with a 3 something inch 45 colt Ruger New Vaquero. Did ok, nothing special. Ran out of ammo in my truck for it. Started digging in my back seat and found my Smith 58. Nothing wrong with those sights; they are dead on! Dug some more. Finally located my FA 454. Gatorade bottles at 35 yards are no challenge at all for that firearm. I really need to organize the back seat of my truck.
