Next time I get around to testing I’ll try to go when it’s sunny and get some velocities. Should be at or close to 1300 fps.

Ruger Vaquero 38-40/40s&w, need to open the 38-40 cylinder, so just shot 40's with 180gr rnfp and a sampling of powders, Unique, Bullseye and Longshot. This was my first time out with her, POI was 8-10" high and left at 25 yards all loads similar. Did not bother to take pics, groups were round no indication of stringing or anomalies. Will wait to see how the 38-40 does before any adjustments/alterations. As well as other bullet options.

More with the Savage 23b
Ran some paper patched 86gr cast bullets. Small pistol primers and 4227, with this beautiful mirror bore it's going well.
Too windy to care about paper targets, but this little rifle is smacking everything it's pointed at.
I'll do more with the paper patching later. Hopefully the next bullets will be made with the swaging dies. It looks like I might be able to make a nasty little 60gr 25 caliber soft point spitzer with a rimfire case as the jacket.
Ground squirrels beware!

Son and I took out a few today. From .22 ,.22mag,.44 mag 10 1/2 in. super, xp 7 br, 222 Contender, and a few thru the carry pieces, plus one lone 223 rifle to check coyote zero. Little cool and wet today so a jacket felt good. Bit of paper, more steel.

My first “big” varmint rifle i was able to take off the rack was an 1892 in 25-20, even back then (~’05 ) factory stuff was starting to run a buck each.

These are a batch of bullets that I'd gotten from the Huntington's shop in Oroville a long time ago. They appear to be cast from an Ideal 257283 mould. They're a plain base bullet. I just today was handed an Ideal 257283 mould. It's in need of repair, as it has a sizable pit from a rust spot on the ogive portion of the cavity. I'll see what I can do about that.

BTW, RANCH DOG BULLETS OFFERS SOME VERY GOOD CAST BULLETS FOR THE 25-20, I USE SOME IN MY 25-20 BOWEN OM BLACKHAWK 25-20.

Thanks for the the Ranch Dog tip. It looks like Arsenal moulds and NOE might be making moulds for his design. It appears as if he's ducked out of the business. That old Ideal mould looks like it will end up working out, and the issues will be able to get sorted. This is one from an initial wake up call this morning. I'll be sending it later, possibly as a gift to a jackrabbit.

I highly doubt the jack will appreciate the gift! I anticipate a deadpan response, or at least the cold shoulder, as it were...

Marlin 444 which I know nothing about, Joel brought it over. So he tells me it takes 44 magnum bullets, not 444 diameter bullets. Eye eye eye. Sure punches a hole in quarter inch mild plate though.

That is an older one with a 1/38 twist rate. Those shot well with the 265 grain jacketed soft points. For cast I would think you would get best groups with .432 diameter bullets. They have short throats so don't like Keith style bullets. Ones like designed by J.D.Jones or LBT type work. The .290 LFN is a good all around bullet for those also.
