Picked up my new Les Baer Boss this afternoon. (I haven’t met a 1911 45 ACP that didn’t like 185 Zeros). I was surprised to find that not only did the slide rack relatively easily, I could remove the barrel bushing by hand. Against common wisdom I stripped the gun down, removed the excess oil, re-lubricated with Weapon Shield, did the plunk test and switched the recoil spring out for softballs. This gun is a blast to shoot, pun intended 😁

I've been working with the 32-20 and the 25-20, Colt Lightning in the 32, Savage 23b in the 25 The Colt is 136 years old, a multi generational hand me down. Bore is dim and rough, but I'm getting somewhere... Notice there's keyholed impacts under masking tape. This labor of love is starting to work out. The Savage is a relatively recent pursuit, and it's a really fun project. I have my dad's early Winchester 92 here, also in 25-20 and the 23b is a welcome companion. Little cartridges. This weekend I delivered 32 caliber gifts to some furry little jerks who have been screwing with my program around here. Pretty much changed their plans for the duration.

Did you get the deadpan response and cold shoulder you expected from the gift, Or just a good by wave from the powder puff?

The 32 knocked the little bastards right off the rock wall. Nice little flat point smack and over they went.

I have a very small quantity of old stock Remington 60gr jhp bullets for the 25-20
Ken Waters found his best 23b load in ten grains 2400 with that bullet. I haven't tried light bullets yet in that rifle, but this afternoon I'll run a handful of those over the chronograph and into a target to see how they do in the Savage. Speed should be just over 2Kfps, so that might get a more splashy response than I'm seeing from the Colt.

Managed to score a bunch of Badman Bullets 240gr SWC BB coated .44 bullets. Looking for a light load for my 2 3/4" M69. Haven't shot any light loads in the .44 Mag in quite some time. First try -- shot at 15 yds to see POI and potential accuracy. Looks like the right track. . .

Glad you could get that M69 to shoot. My last one was horrendous. Couldn't group. It needed so much work, I Sent it down the road.

Hey Paul105 ? Those sights ? I may go out back and play with a 32 H&R later. A Single-Six and a SP101 recently found a home here.

Son and I shot some silhouette today, darn ram jumped the first bullet for a 39. Started out cold and rainy, then the sun came out and turned into a beautiful day.

My father years ago bought a Savage 99 303 Savage. This rifle was made I 1929 and sold new in 1934 to a friend of my grandfather. My Dad was named after this man. When the rifle was bought new the gentleman got 3 boxes of ammo with it. Dad still has Two of the original ammo. Last night I took it to the range a fired 25 rounds thru it! ( probably the first is shot in 50 years) used a home cast 170gr fn and IMR 4227.

Been playing with mid-range 357 loads for my small frame 357s in a PD application. Think I found the sweet spot, yesterday. A 358156 SWC over 9.1 grains of HS-6 and a WW standard SPP.
Very, very accurate at 15 yds DA and very controllable and with low muzzle flash. Will chrono soon, wanting to break the 1,000fps barrier, but stay close to it. 4 out of the 5 shots in one hole, with one 1/2 an inch out, shooting standing with a Weaver stance. Will be following up soon with photos and chrono work.
