Today, in John’s memory, I shot the two Gallagher guns I am blessed to have. First, I shot an S&W barreled Blackhawk in .45 Colt. Went 5 for 5 on the plates with a full case of H110. This gun is pictured in Mr. Taffin’s most recent book. Curtis, thanks for letting me be this gun’s caretaker. Next was a short barreled birdshead Vaquero in .500 Linebaugh. Built by John for a friend to use fishing in the big bear’s backyard. Scalloped frame and no ERH. A light weight hand cannon. This time I remembered to wear a glove! Went 4 for 5 on the plates. My fault, not the gun; the first shot tends to make me shy a bit! After that, no issues. Thanks you John for all you did for our little gun community. A man with a generous spirit who will be missed.

Beautiful revolvers there ! Reminds me I didn't find my shooting glove yesterday when friends came over. Lots of dirty guns to clean after breakfast here today. They brought their CCW handguns and I pulled out for show and tell n BOOM, the Bulldogs, M69, 480 Alaskan, an AK47, and a 12ga coach gun. Fun was had.

Found a S&W 657-4 PC Defensive Revolver on GB while on a trip down to Texas last month...the pawn shop that had it had a fixed price too low to pass up...just got to shoot it yesterday along with a 3" 657 I've had for a couple of decades... Beautiful guns and good shootin!! What grips are on that top gun?

"Beautiful guns and good shootin!! What grips are on that top gun?"...Ahrends
No pics, but went down to a friend's place and shot:
Glock 35/4 .40 S&W with TruGlo TFO sights...picked it up off GB very cheap... Don't think it had been fired. Is an early non-MOS model which is why I was the only bidder...
Colt Competition .38 Super in stainless...LNIB unfired. Tried it out with Suers last week and it shot great.. Today I changed the barrel out to 9x23 Winchester with a 22# recoil spring and Kings Recoil buffer and HD recoil plug... Shot excellent with the white box 124 SP ammo that clocks 1460 fps...smokin'....
Colt Defender 9mm that a local smith fit a Fusion .38 Super to...real nice shooter but just a tad small for me...

rjm52, I wished I'd loaded up some of the those 230 gr. Gold Dot loads in full moon clips. That was more velocity than I was planning for in the 1911. I just wanted to duplicate factory velocity and I think the Speer 230 gr. Gold Dot factory load goes about 890 fps and I reached 960! The S&W 625-8 would handle that easy! Yeah, mine's pretty accurate!

17 Remington contender barrel from Magnumwheelman. Thanks again!
I'd gotten a couple quick loads through it yesterday or the day before. Went back at it today.
The only 17 caliber bullets that I found at the first place I stopped by in town were the 15.5gr Hornady NTX I wasn't sure if they'd be up to snuff for this, so I called Hornady and together we had a laugh on the phone this morning. Launch speeds over 4kFPS are approved by the maker!
Hodgdon data resource says 23.1gr to 26.0gr with H4895 and today I got up to 26.0gr Their 24" test barrel gave 4806fps with the max load. At 26.0gr I got a pinhole in a case neck. I'll back off a bit and take a look at the unprimed brass that came with the barrel. Will likely anneal those necks and go forward with chronograph testing later in the week.
Small nuisance varmints here on the ranch will soon become one with the wind...

Mounted a Stevesgunz safety delete peep sight on my Rossi 92 in 357 today and fired about 25 rds of 38 and some magnum through it. I love the R92, and I love a peep sight but there just isnt a lot of options other than this or the Skinner sights barrel mounted peep, which sits farther forward than i care for. I have really struggled finding a sight for these Rossis that i like. I think this is the ticket.

Just shooting for relaxation today. I don't think I've ever tried Power Pistol in a .357 Magnum before - it's not bad! Same for Bullseye in the .38 Super, very accurate! Bullet: Speer 125 gr. Primer: Winchester Small Pistol Case: PMC .38 Super +P OAL: 1.235 Recoil Spring: Dawson tool-less guide rod, 12 lb. Recoil Spring and Wilson Buffer Pad.

S&W 25-9 6" 45 Colt
19gr 4227 CCI 350 250 XTP Seat to cannelure, solid crimp.
This follows yesterday's same load but with WLR
I'm just getting this one going. Will likely try Unique tomorrow.
I need to get a mould out and cast some bullets for this one too. I have a lot of wheel weight alloy here, thinking about starting with straight wheel weight alloy and going from there.

Took my FA9 3 1/2" Round Butt .45 Colt for for a spin today. The .45 ACP aux cylinder was installed. The accuracy and shootability of the little gun always makes me smile. Shot reactive steel targets out to 70 yards - most enjoyable outing. Paul
