Today was mild - leftover rounds from your Harton Single Six 41 Special.
Grip frame is a Power Custom #5 if my memory is right. I think I find it better than the one on the #5 TLA. I’ll try to shoot it tomorrow to compare.
I have some 41 Mag rounds somewhere. Can’t find them so far so I’ll probably load up some of those for the mag cylinder soon.

A S&W model 16-4 has been one of my bucket list guns for a very long time. Well, a fellow 32 & 41 magnum looney came to my rescue a few days ago & I got one that is so close to new the bluing is still wet, almost! I got it today, grabbed some handloads & ran to the range in a blowing wind, yesterday both local interstates were closed because of low visibility, very rare for us. Anyway the gun shot centered but a bit low at 20 yds out the window of my truck, 5 shots just over 1 1/2". Then I ran one plate rack & called it a day with my new prize. Tomorrow the Ground Squirrels will be in trouble if the wind ever dies down. The trigger is heavy, I'll set that down a bit & use Federal SP primers & it's going to be fun, fun, fun! Dick

Actually yesterday. Just felt like doing something a bit different and hadn't shot the 500 JRH (Huntington FA83 conversion) in a while. Shot some 15.0gr HS-6 with 350gr Horn and 400gr Lead flat nose, then finished it off with 350gr Horn over 33.7gr H110 (these chrono right at 1,360 fps from the 5" bbl and about as much recoil as I want to deal with anymore). Top gun: Paul

Today was TLA #5 Day. 45 Colt with 308 gr LSWC over IMR-4227. Shoots about 4” high at 30 yds with rear sight bottomed out. Gotta try a little faster or a little lighter bullet. Sweet shooting gun. Takes some adjusting to go from Ruger to TLA lefty loading. Or is it righty loading? Tim

It's been awhile since I've shot "The Smurf Rifle" but I wanted to test a combination I'd seen on YouTube (Johnny's Reloading Bench). I'm glad I gave it a try! Absolute tack driving load! Rifle: Savage Model 12 with Lothar Walther Barrel (24 inch, 1 in 12 twist, 4-groove) Bullet: Nosler 40 gr. Ballistic Tip Powder: Alliant Reloader 7 22.7 grs. Primer: Remington 7 ½ Case: Winchester .223 Remington LOAL: 2.260 Almost got all five inside a dime! (Actually... I think I did!)

After firing 50 more rounds of Speer 155 gr. Gold Dots and Power Pistol I think I'm going to go back to a 17 lbs recoil spring - that load kicks! My trigger finger is blistered! Not a bad load but too much muzzle flash and recoil. I think I'll try CFE or BE-86 next and aim for a velocity of 1200 fps. No signs of excessive case bulge with the Alpha Wolf Barrel!

Son and I went to the farm ,mowed grass then shot for 3 hrs or so. 308 Striker ,357 Max T C, 30 Herrett T C, 221 X P, 7-30 Waters, a bunch of 22 L R , only one rifle a recently completed 6.5 x 55 Swedish Mauser with peep sights. Have drops now for the rifle from 1 to 400 yds. Steel from 100 to 400 yds with the pistols, worked at 1 to 200 yds with the 22 pistols. Had a big rain storm go around us just some sprinkles on us, serious rain mile up the road. It was a good day!

Thanks to a forum member here, Tom, I received 6 pieces of reformed 45-70 brass and a couple of dozen Hornady 200 gr soft flat nose bullets. Found a recipe from Mike Venturino’s writings for a powder I have on hand (5744) supposedly good for about 1600 fps. Since I have no 33 WCF dies, I loaded 3 of them up using a .348 seater die and crimped with a modified piece of fired .38 Special brass. Hung a paper plate on a cardboard Amazon box. Never thought to check the position of the rear sight. Turns out it was as low as it can go. I took a knee at 50 yards, tried to see the miniature piece of blue tape on the plate, then tried to see the sites, then fired off the 3 rounds, checking between rounds to see if the subsequent round looked as long as it was supposed to. I could see foliage moving after each round fired, so I was safe as far as squibs. Walked down to see what I’d hit, but couldn’t see any holes. Got a bit closer and found 3 holes a foot or so low. Blow up the picture, look down and you’ll see a little picture of headphones on the black packing tape. Holes are near that. For me, a guy who rarely shoots anything but handguns and is blind as bat, it’s a pretty fair group, using no rest, kneeling. I’m hooked! This is a really cool old levergun! Just needs bigger holes so I can see them! Thanks again to Tom for the generous offer of brass and lead and to Ryan for guiding me through my first old Winchester acquisition. Tim

The one time a year I do single shot pistols is now, except the weather is killing me. We are still getting wind, rain, some snow, always cloudy, but mostly lots of wind so my Rock Chuck shooting has been on hold for weeks. I've seen several in different places & one day I saw about 15 but didn't have my XP100 with me so they were out of range. This is a 223 Improved that my son built several years ago & it shoots fantastic with a 3X12 Burris perched on top, I've taken thousands of Chucks with it & won several of the local rifle shoots out to 300 yds using it, after that they can out scope me. It shoots best with Nosler 50 gr Ballistic Tips but for Rock Chucks I switch to 40 gr Ballistic Tips to give them a better "ride" Here's a 100 yd group I shot a couple of days ago in a pretty good wind. The gun was shooting high because of the zero with the 50 gr slugs but that's been corrected. The gun has done under an inch at 300 several times with good wind conditions. Shilen select match barrel, pillar bedded & laminated stock. Dick
