I've had a hankering to do it for a while so I finally caved in and ordered some 45 colt speedloaders while they were on sale. Planning to shoot 300gr XTP Mags over 30.0 gr of H4227, this should be fun!

I'm actually jealous. I've been thinking about doing exactly this, but for ICORE. But I don't have an Alaskan laying around, so it's a bit more of an investment for me!

I have both a 454 & a 480... if ya lived closer I borrow ya one for some friendly competition... speaking of which... my fabricator buddy just built a new dueling tree for his 9mm... I had some 357 magnum ammo I wanted to burn up, so I could sell the brass... his tree could handle the 357 loads I was shooting in my 4" GP-100... he has one of those competition "Core" or whatever 9mm S&W's ... so we were lining up, & he was only putting 6 rounds in his magazines... we put 3 flippers on each side, & the shooter with the least after we each fired 6 rounds was the winner... we were standing back pretty far, so his empties would land in the driveway, so they'd be easier to find... far enough back, that mine didn't bounce back to my side, & that he needed a solid hit to swing his all the way over... he nearly always won, with a Burris red dot mounted on a competition 9mm, I was using a fiber optic front, & factory rear sight... we blew through about 100 round each, in 20 minutes to a half hour... was pretty dang fun

I better not. I already have too many irons waiting by the fire! I need to try Classic this year, but I know it'll feel slow and painful. *Ricky Bobby voice*: I wanna go FAST! I was planning to use Classic as an excuse to buy a 6" revolver, but nothing has materialized yet. I'm keeping an eye on the local classifieds!

Haha, I used my .44 mag Alaskan in an IDPA BUG ,atch one time. After blowing off most of the pasters the first stage, they made me shoot each stage last. Hahaha, its was fun!

After putting some rounds thru my 480 SBH now, I am wondering just how much fun I might have, how useful a 480 Alaskan might be. If we get thru contract time here this summer without too much pain, maybe, just maybe I'll be tempted. I'm wondering if the OP's set up might not start on fire some of the closer targets ! That should be extra points, right ?

Years ago watched a one-armed gentleman use a M1917 45acp turn in an amazing performance at an IDPA comp.. It was a lesson in determination and will to overcome. It would not be wise to bust in his back door at 3am..

I think it was last week I watched a video of a guy shooting either a 500 S&W, or the 460, in a USPSA match. Looked like factory loads or full power handloads. Gun had a ported 4? inch barrel too.
