Thanks everyone for the great comments. I grew up in the 60's and 70's in the Midwest reading Guns and Ammo, reloading both shotshells to start with, as I started hunting upland bird, and then gravitated to small and big game using rifle and revolver, mainly due to writers such as Elmer Keith. Big shotguns and big bore rifles and pistols became a passion early on in large part to Elmer Keith, and I had my first 44 mag s blackhawk and ten gauge before I could legally buy them on my own. I soon gravitated to even bigger bores and have a fairly extensive collection of Linebaugh, Bowen, Reeder, etc Revolvers, and then I started hunting Africa and other places in the world and got the DR fever. Never though till 10 years ago I would ever even hunt Africa, but the writings of Elmer Keith were instrumental in making that happen.
I did physically attend 4 days of the Auction from both Auction Houses, and saw all the higher end, and lower end guns from EK's Estate Sold. I was unaware that the Poulin Auction Company was even involved until I arrived the day before the James D Julia Auction to inspect those guns, and overheard a couple of dealers talking about the Poulin Auction next door, so I walked over. Literally just before Poulin started selling guns that morning, I discovered that a number of EK's guns, etc would be sold that day. So I did NOT have much time to inspect, research those guns, and was especially "thrown" by the higher than estimated prices that the Poulin guns started selling for--however fortunately that did get me prepared for the Julia Auction. In any case at the Poulin Auction I did also Pick up a Security Six, a single Six, a Ruger mini 30 rifle and and old Model 41 S&W with Elmer Keith's name engraved on it.
The morning of the Julia Auction was electrifying, and I think the prices on some of the early guns (other than #5 and the Corbett DR) really surprised alot of people who probably were looking at the published pre-auction estimates. However, based on the results the day before I was ready and knew his two primary carry revolvers in later part of his life, and his Boswell 500 NE DR, were the 3 guns I was primarily after--I believe they were close to him, and would therefore mean the most to me. It is hard to describe the waive of emotion that came over me after acquiring EK's 2 pre 29 carry guns--even now I cannot hardly believe it. Unfortunately, even before the Auction I was afraid that a rep of Bill Jones, or some other DR collector, would be bidding on the DR's, and I ran the Boswell up to the point I knew that that he would not stop bidding--No regrets as I feel extremely lucky and fortunate to have acquired the guns that I did. I'm not the most computer literate, so not sure how to post pics. Hell yes I am going to shoot all of them--and I have carried the 4" pre 29 in its holster since back.

Thanks for sharing this special moment with us.
As far as uploading pictures I've found the easiest way is to open a free photobucket account, then once the pics are uploaded you copy the link with the "img" brackets on both ends. Copy that img link in a post here and voila, the pic appears once posted.

Great story. Nice that the guns could come home with you too. Waiting for them to arrive would be very hard to do!

I had hoped that I would be able to shoot these two fellas by now, but we been having a return of winter here so it may be a week or two before I get an extended range session. I have a few buddies that are eager to shoot the 2 fellas, when we do I will get some pics posted. The Avatar pic is the only one I have now, done in the Hotel room before I left Maine to send to a few of my friends.

I am personally happy that these guns are being carried and shot. While I'll take no issue with any gun museum, this warms my heart to hear...and for maybe the second time ever I actually agree with CraigC, definitely the best Avatar award winner!
reminds me of an old saying..."A ship is not built to spend it's life in a harbor".

bowen475.... sounds like these revolvers have found a warm home. Hopefully we descend the tail of winter here, too, although it is too early to cross field and wood without snowshoes. Taking on a hike, yesterday, an 8-3/8" M-29 with factory Patridge sight and S&W rosewood stocks of the Magna size of your Elmer ivories. Shooting, of course.
Perhaps unaware I paid an homage. Congratulations, David Bradshaw

Elmer Keith's carry guns and your carrying them.... That puts a smile almostb as big as yours on my ugly mug. I am glad to know that some of his guns will do what he loved to do with them.... Shoot

I'm with cmh. After reading your post, I look at those guns, see your big ol smile and can't help but smile with you. Give them things the workout they deserve.

I am pleased that one of the faithful managed to bring these historical sixguns home with him.
Perhaps one day I will even get to meet you and see the pair in person!
All my best!
