I have about 150 44mag cases ready for primers and the committment of what's going inside. Have to parcel off some for rice loads and shot loads. Rest will get 210gr Speer JHP on 10grs of CFE-P as a further break-in load. still suitable for plinking, varmints to medium size and such. Being Easter, I should reload some 44spec's.

Got some 45 Colt brass ready yesterday. Today, the postal carrier brought a sample bag of Missouri Bullet Co .452 TCFP with the Hi Tek coat. Looks like they actually run around 295 to 297 grain. So hopefully I'll get to load a few before the weekend.

I shot my 30 Carbine Blackhawk a few days ago and decided to load up some different slugs to try next time. So far the best load for that gun has been 13 gr. of H-110 under a 115 gr. LRN that I think came from Missouri Bullet Co.
This time I loaded the 32 Sixgun Sledgehammer from MP molds, (145 gr. solid / 137 gr. hollow point), which are gas checked with Gator checks and lubed with WLL Red Carnauba. Also loaded the MP 314-640 slugs, (122 gr. solid / 118 gr. hollow point), which are plain based and were powder coated with Harbour Freight red powder. Had to size down from .314 > .312 > .3105 > .309 since the bore on the 30 Blackhawk is a .308. I used CCI small rifle primers and loaded both bullets over 13 gr of H-110 and some of the 314-640's over 13.5 gr H-110. Looking forward to trying them out.

Did get 20 44mag hulled rice loads put up. Have some in special cases and some in 480 too, left from last year. Gonna need more I'm sure. Thinking of ordering some of CCI's plastic shot capsules, this to get some of the payload out of the case and maybe load some BB size stuff underneath. A bigger multi-varmint load. Will adjust powder charge.

Getting ready for a prairie dog hunt. 17 Hornet,22hornet, 223,204,22-250 and some 243. Have about 1500 rounds all together done. Started Friday night and worked on some till midnight. Got up Saturday, raining so no rifle or pistol check, started loading at 7am and worked on that again till midnight. Pretty much the same on Sunday.
I ran out of TAC Friday night, so off to cabelas. Went with a buddies load of CFE223. Going to taste test it in the 223 and 22-250. While I was there perused through the different isles. Found some 17's on close out. Moved along and glanced at Hornady 22 hornet brass. $35 per 50! Walked down the ammo isle just to make myself feel good. Hornady 22 hornet superformance for $15 per 25. WTH did a double take. Went back and checked the price on brass. Loaded ammo was cheaper than brass, now how stupid is that? Still high, but I am lost in the 80's, bought all they had.
Going to load up some 327's for the SS and some 32-20 and 32 mags for the buckeye. I am going to take one of the 480's just to see if I can "bark" a couple with one shot. Jeff

Wow, didn't realize this thread had been neglected for so long, so I thought I'd bump it back to the top. Loaded up some 310 gr Lee Flat Nose Gas Check Dual Crimp .44s ,seated to short OAL (top crimp gr). Realized that the Dillon charge bar set for 17.5gr A2400 threw exactly 20.0gr of W296, so I loaded up 60 each of the 310 gr Lees over 20.0gr W296 set off by CCI 350s in new Starline .44 mag brass.
Tried 10 of these yesterday in my 2 3/4" and 4 1/4" M69s. Was getting just a bit of crimp jump, so I tightened up the crimp die a bit on this batch. I think this will work, but will verify and adjust crimp accordingly. These Lee bullets have shot well in all the .44s I've tried them in.
This load isn't bad in the M69s (mine are equipped with the Hogue 500 X Frame grips).
I chronoed this load with H110 and Fed 155s at 1,140 fps from my 4 1/4" M69 at five lone paces at 45 deg f a couple of years ago.

I'll play: Didn't load anything but I recieved a large order of has checks from Sage's. I bought a few thousand of the plain base gas checks to try. No real reason as the bullets shoot well already, but you never know. I will state that they took a learning curve and found it was easier to just run them into the LAM1 about 3/16" and they seated perfectly. Maybe a more proper description it the swaged on perfectly. We'll see if there is any improvement in accuracy as that is about all I'm interested in (velocity is easy, accuracy isn't as easy).
I also purchased a few thousand aluminum gas checks to see how they'll shoot. Probably no difference.

Over the last few days we run a batch of S&B .32 Long brass through the tumbler, dug through the .32 bullets and found most of a box of Missouri Cast Cowboy #6 ( 100gr, RNFP ). CCI 500s and 2 gr of Trailboss produced 605 fps from a 31-1, 4". Accuracy and mild report was great. The TB did not meter well at 2gr in a LEE auto disk, will try another measure this weekend and if no luck, will switch powders.

Am wanting, before the weekend is over, to take the next batch of 480's up a bit in powder charge. These to use the Miha HP. Went light the first time, seated long and 10grs of Longshot. School zone loads as someone here has used that term ! But if you see the bullets gonna miss you can run it down and nab it. Hey, if you drop one of these on your foot it hurts ! Hoover's data shows he used 12grs.. Will start working up a bit. Wanting to chase bears.

Loaded up some more of the Leadhead 335s..... Used the same as last time the 21.5 grs of H110. This proved to be good in my gun and the new barrel produced better velocity than I expected. Hope to be stretching the legs on that little gun first to 50 and then to 100yds Hope it is not windy Monday or Tuesday.

Early yesterday am, I quickly sized 10, 388 gr LBT LFN in .476" and loaded up 5 each, 8.5 gr Alliant 28/20 and 5 each 9 gr Alliant 28/20. These were air dropped just last Sunday. Gun in question is the new Ruger SS Bisley 480 Ruger with 4-5/8" barrel. Ran up on the hill behind my house to sight in my Kidd 10/22 and check the drops and 50, 75 and 100 in preparation for an upcoming NRL22 match on Saturday 18 Nov. Had to do it yesterday since we fiancee and I are headed to Kauai tomorrow to get married on the beach, Saturday 11/11 at 11:11. I also loaded two 255 gr LBT WFN for my 44 Special (same gun as before but in the special). I needed 2 more rounds to top of the 6-shot cylinder. While up on the hill, I have a "mitigation" doe mule deer tag (private land tag) and hope to drop a doe with the Special. On the way up, some other hunters were blocking the road with their vehicle as they had spotted the same does I hoped to get. They harvested 2 of the 4 does, both with 308 Win chambered rifles. One doe stood/ambled around, confused, after her cohorts hit the dirt. I worked within 75 yds but just could't get a shot before she skeedadlled. Once I sighted in the Kidd 10/22, I shot the 480 Ruger at 25 yds, sans my Oehler 35p, since the wind was blowing too hard for the Oehler to stay upright. 2.75" and 2" group. Likely 950'ish fps. I then helped the guys get their does down off the hill with my Tundra. Home by noon.
