Good looking loads and setup to load with, Paul. Don't take up much room and it's portable
I've been thinking of something similar to take to my buddies huntin cabin for working up loads at the bench.

Full length 38 super shotshells using 223 cases. 10 gets me thru a year or more, plus I converted 10mm mag cases into full length 10mm shotshells.

38 Special, just purchased a 5 screw M&P 4" 38 Special. Mechanically perfect, butter smooth, action, like new bore, but lots of holster wear and wrong magna grips. 260.00 OTD.
Took it to the range last Saturday and shot steel. POI/POA dead on with 158 SWCs. So 500 38 Spl. cases cleaned and set up for 5.0 of SR4756 and some 158 cast SWCs. The last couple of years I've looked up an old flame: 38 Special.
She is such a recreation cartridge. Have several 38s including K frames and an airweight 38. All fun and relatively cheap to shoot.

Back in the late 50s, my dad had a summer fellow ship to UC Berkely. As a pre teen and budding gun enthusiast I found an army surplus store that also sold guns. I don't know how many times I visited that place, but by the end of the summer I had badgered my dad long enough to get him to take a look at a Ruger Bearcat I had my eye on. Dad wasn't a gun person (neither was he an anti). Next to the little bearcat in the display case was a used M10. Dad looked at the Ruger and the M10 and said "we need to get a real gun" and the M10 went home with us (I was elated). Spent a lot time with that gun until my parents used it and some cash to get a flat top Ruger .357 for my 15th birthday. Lots of fond memories of that M10.
Headed to the basement to load up some .44s for an afternoon at the range.

Shot my 475 rounds from earlier. Tried the Montana Bullet Works 400gr over 13.5 and 14 grains HS6. Attempting to find a moderate load for practice and punching paper.
13.5 gave about 990 fps in my BFR, and 14 gave about 1050 fps. Despite being a bit sooty, the 13.5 load was decently accurate and pretty mild... Milder than I was looking for. The 14 gr load was cleaner, more accurate, and still quite comfortable. Came home and loaded some more of these. Considering loading a few a little warmer.

Callmaker:
My go to load in the .475 Linebaugh was 15.0gr of HS6 under 355 to 410gr bullets and ignited by WLPs (Win Large Pistol Primers). Depending on the bullet, it chrononed (5 long paces from the muzzle and 70-80 deg F) between 1,100 and 1,150 fps thru my 6" Freedom Arms. Over a 3 or 4 yr period, I shot literally thousands of that load. I spent twice as much on cast bullets as the gun cost. Accurate, powerful and pretty easy shooting.
The same load works in the 500 JRH. In my 5" JRH converted FA, it delivers 1,040 fps with 440gr WFNGCs.

Thanks Paul! I'll be loading tomorrow and will head toward 15. Sounds like that is about right.

Finally got to load some after a couple unexpected "can't wait" chores popped up.
.475 L Stuck with the .476 dia 400 grain LFN from MBW. Went with 14.5 gr, and 15 gr HS6. Both in Starline brass with WLP primers. I hear a lot of good press about each of these charges.
Unfortunately, it may be a few days before I can run them through the BFR. At least I'm ready!

Tried some 250gr Keith (Lyman 429421) from Western Bullet Co. These are supposed to be sized .429, but run a little under that. Loaded some .44 specials with 6.5gr Univ to check for leading. Shot 25 thru my 396 Mtn Lite (3 1/4" titanium L-frame that weighs 18 oz). These were probably running about 800 fps, maybe a bit less. Throats on the 396 measure .4285 with plug gauge. No leading at all. Recoil with the little gun is noticeable even at <=800 fps and 250gr bullet.
Hadn't shot the gun in quite some time and forgot how well it shoots -- had a great time shooting steel double action.
