I am still hesitant to start upon this path of bore polishing. The BSBH 480 does has horrible thread choking, and the M69 EDM rifling is rough here. In that 480, well fitting Penn TH bullets lead badly after just a couple of cylinders. HOURS of cleaning after. Sigh.

Is the bore polishing kit similar to the fire lapping products Fermin wrote about?

Not up to date on your 480 in particular, but have you thought about sending it back to Ruger to have them attempt a repair? If it's that bad, I'd send it back before even trying to polish the bore. You shouldn't have to fix your new gun.

Loaded an experimental load with a new bullet, to me, it's a 230grain SWC that mikes out .4515. Loaded 25 of these in 45 ACP cases. Used 5.3" of 231 and a standard WW primer in new Winchester brass. COAL is 1.20" and velocity should be around 800. Need to shoot for accuracy then if promising go for chrono. Will post a pic later. Bought 500 of these bullets at an estate sale. The gentleman who cast them took particular care in creating these bullets. All measurements are very precise.
Will be shooting these in a Smith and Wesson 45 M&Pc with a 4 inch barrel.
Tried to add pics but was advised pic size too great 3.85 mb. Needs to be under 1 mb. How do I solve this. I've run into this before on this site.

I loaded this stuff yesterday, just didn't have time to post it. These are the first loads I've ever done where throats and bore were measured and bullets were sized appropriately. Won't be able to get out and see what they do until next weekend. Caliber: .38 Special Bullet: Matt's 150gr full wadcutter plain base (.359 sized to .357) Powder: Green Dot Powder Charge: 3.5gr Primer: CCI 500 Case: Winchester Wadcutter This is my loading outfit. It ain't fancy nor fast but it gets the job done. The quick change bushings and locking collars make changing dies a breeze. Once set there's no need for further adjustment. I weigh and pour each powder charge then double check to be sure I didn't double charge anything. This method may be slow but I discovered 3 or 4 cases with small splits at the case mouth before I made completed rounds out of them. (Recognize that scale there Tyrone?)
