Per John Linebaugh use winchester LP primers with HS6 you get 75 pct of a mag primer/preformance and less pressure than a full mag primer...fwiw I use 11.5 gr Hs 6 an win Lp in my plink, hunt and cc...its a great load an burns clean...Happy shooting

Ran through my test loads of 45 Colt with 300 grain cast LFN and 12 thru 13 grains HS6 the other day. Today I loaded up some more using the same bullet, but this time the only charge was 13 grains of HS6. If it works as good as last time, I'll be well pleased.

Loaded up 100rds of .41Mag. Half with a 215gr LSWC over 17.6gr of 2400 & half with the same LSWC over 8.4gr of Unique.
The 2400 load always shot well from my 5.5" Bisley BH, so I'm using it as a baseline for the 7.5" Bisley SBH Hunter. The Unique load is supposed to be fairly mild & oughtta be even more so with the extra weight of Hunter.
Also ordered a Chrony Beta Master, so looking forward to some range time & gathering some real data.

I've been working up a hunting load for my S&W 625-8 PC and this load is pretty warm. Compared to recommended loads in Brian Pearce's article ".45 Auto Rim +P" (Handloader #306 Feb 2017) I probably should back up a little. Didn't seem to bother the gun but I try to be cautious. The Lyman #452490GC takes up the same amount of powder space as the Sierra 240 gr. JHC - but it is a little heavier. My Sierra load. Bullet: Sierra 240 gr. JHC Powder: Alliant Power Pistol 8.0 grs. Primer: Winchester Large Pistol Case: Winchester .45 ACP LOAL: 1.200 Average Velocity: 975.60 fps ES: 17.98 SD: 6.92 And the cast bullet load I worked up to (still need to chronograph it) Bullet: Matt’s Bullets Lyman #452490GC (245 grs/ Carnauba Red/.452) Powder: Alliant Power Pistol 7.7 grs. Primer: Winchester Large Pistol Case: Starline 45 Auto Rim Comments: Very accurate, but need a higher front sight blade for 25 yards.

I loaded up all my 41 Special and 41 Mag brass. Found out some 250 WFN bullets are very fat/too fat for the push-through test on my FA 41 mag, M97. Glad I only loaded up 5 in mag brass before checking. Loaded round is not too long for the short cylinder but will not go in far enough to close the loading gate. Able to load these in 41 Spl brass, but will check size of cylinder throats and diameter of cast bullets. I may just see about trading these for other slugs.
I used W231 and Hercules Blue Dot with 210 grain Rainier plated bullets.

De-capped 100 Remington 30-06 today then sized the necks. Placed them in hot soapy water, then a hot water rinse & into the oven at 150 degrees to dry. Going to fish camp for the next few days but will expand the necks & prime when I get back (after cleaning all those fish).

I loaded up some 480 Ruger today. The MiHec 395 grain hp that's on a group buy right now. 15 grains of Hercules Blue Dot gave me 1162 fps. I backed it down to 14.5 grains BD to see what that runs velocity- and accuracy-wise.
Loaded 50 rounds of plinkers with a 370 rnfp and 9 grains W231, and then 50 more with 17 grains H108.

Well I'll finally pipe up. I haven't loaded in entirely too long. I rarely even shoot anymore so no need, I seem to just keep buying guns and reloading stuff instead of actually using it... Well today I loaded 100 round of .45 Colt using a 288 grain cast 270SAA bullet over 12 grains of HS-6. I have heard you guys talk about HS-6 for a long time and finally decided to give it a try. I usually use W296 or Unique for all my handgun stuff but decided to try something in between. I started with 12 grains and will see how they shoot and might work up a grain or two in my Linebaugh Bisley. Looking for close to 1000fps. I used Starline cases and Winchester primers.
I also loaded 50 rounds of .308 Winchester with 46.0 grains of Varget and 168 grain Sierra matchkings. This load shoots like crazy out of my Remington 700P.
Now I just need to go shoot it.
