Fantastic shooting savit260 Thanks ! I'm pretty pleased with the offhand groups I've gotten out of this 97consiering I'm a "duffer" compared to a lot of the ace shots here.

Although I once shot ..44 Magnum and ..475 Linebaugh more than anything else, mostly to keep in tune for extensive hunting, age has taken a toll, and I find myself shooting and loading .45 ACP, .38 Special, and .357 Magnum almost exclusively the last couple of years. Just finished some .45 ACP.

I started working on a new one for me... 38-56 WCF... formed 10 or 12 cases from some once fired R-P 45-70 cases... ran them through my 40-65 dies 1st, then through my Lee 38-56 dies to form the cases... have a 38-56 trim die coming, as the forming stretches them quite a bit... the gun will be built on a super nice Martini single shot action that's getting a 375 match grade barrel with a medium heavy taper fitted to it... the reamer finally came from PTG a couple weeks ago... I'm just working on a dummy round right now, for chambering... I just used one of my 375 H&H bullets for now, & left the case as is ( long from forming ) but am looking at some 250 grain Sierra Game King bullets for this gun... haven't given much though on powders yet, but have several that should work... will probably be loading 375 Winchester-ish load pressures... but that will be a while, as I don't have any wood for this project yet...

Kimber's 3" .45acp Super Carry Ultra HD will be in my hands this Wednesday and, while waiting on all my dies and stuff to be delivered, I did THINK a lot about reloading a bunch of.45 ACPs!
Does that count?

I've been getting really good results with Blue Bullets 200 gr. RNFPs in my S&W 625-8 PC. Tried their 230 gr. RN bullets yesterday and they were even better! I wished they had a crimp groove but you can't have everything! Bullet: Blue Bullet 230 gr. RN Powder: Hodgdon Titegroup 4.6 grs. Primer: Winchester Large Pistol LOAL: 1.250 Case: Winchester .45 ACP I usually avoid Titegroup with lead bullets because of the smoke, but it's not a problem with coated bullets!

In the last week we've single staged 500 rnds of mild mannered .38 target loads, and 200 rnds of .357 mag. Funny how that happens with all the .38 talk on here lately.

Worked on 45 Colt. 300 grain LFN and a little HS6. Loaded in steps up to 13 gr. Going to see how my Ruger likes this load.

Nothing more sad than a big bag of empty brass. So, the big bag of 38 brass that's been filling up will get some attention today. My only .38 an old Colt PP that seldom comes out. A passed down gun. This ammo to have on hand for friends and family. A moderate charge of Bullseye likely.

Spent the weekend trying to get ahead of my shooting so it doesn't take as long to reload next time. 300 rounds of 41 Magnum 215 grain swc from SNS Casting Powder is Unique Nothing fancy. Gave me a total of 387 rounds. Won't last most of you one outing, but it is a lot for me.

Tried some cast bullets from Matt's in my Ruger Bisley .45 Colt today. This load is a bit warm for a Colt SAA but it shoots great in my large frame Ruger. Six shots at 25 yards. Bullet: Matt’s Bullets Lyman #452490GC (245 grs/ Carnauba Red/.452) Powder: Hodgdon HS-6 11.2 grs Primer: CCI-350 Case: PMC Comments: Hefty recoil but very accurate! And some Black Hills 158 gr. Cowboy loads in my Winchester 73. Wow, I may have to buy some more of that stuff! Fifty rounds at 30 yards.

pbcaster45 did you by chance try that 45 load with CCI-300s as well as 350s, I've been working up similar 250gr loads on 300s and haven't tried 350s yet.

Curious about the mag primer? why do you use it instead of a standard primer with HS-6 ? Also any leading ? Charles

Well, the one time I chronographed one of my .45 Colt loads using HS-6 I thought the ES & SD readings were a little high. Accuracy was good - but I was hoping to improve things with a magnum primer. I think I'm seeing a cleaner burn (with magnum primers), but I still need to check with the chronograph.
Bullet: Lyman #454190 250 gr. FP (.452/Rooster Red) Powder: Hodgdon HS-6 10.3 grs Primer: Federal 150 Case: Winchester Velocity: 939.82 fps ES: 68.72 SD: 32.75
