Ladder test.
308Win 175BTHP with Leverevolution powder. Magpul magazine length. Starting at 43 grains up to 46 in .5 increments.
Hoping for good things. Trying to replace Varget so I can mass load in my 550B with consistency.

Finished up some 32 mag using 100 grain xtp's and lil gun. Also 100 rounds of 357 180 RNFP and lil gun. Last of all was the beginning of some 41 mag 225 RNFP and lil gun. I think the 41 mag combo is going to be a hoot based on a few test shots. It's not as obnoxious as I thought it'd be (no discernible fireball). Felt recoil is stout but not ridiculous.

Gentleman in Anchorage PM'd me about having some of the 480 bullets like/from Dick, that he was willing to part with, so...new home here soon ! Haven't seen a moose or buffalo around here lately..but.. A Longshot load to follow. If I find a further source, think that lower cannelure is just made for Trail Boss ! We'll see.

Hey, that MIHA mold 475, 385gr HP' has two cannelures. Who is using which for what ? They are kinda shallow, anyone having issues ? I'll not be looking for performance beyond the upper cannelure, but may use the lower for TB or FFFG.

I have some of Dick's 385gr Miha that are coated. When using the top crimp grove (short overall length), the little band of lead that is between the top and bottom crimp grove tends to be sheared off when fired, leaving a little ring of lead behind. There's a thread on this in this Reloading section but I was too lazy to look it up. Great bullet. Over 22.4gr H110 (seated long) from a 2 1/2" Super Redhawk Alaskan: Should work just as well with Trail Boss. FWIW, Paul

Thank You Paul, I won't be touching the H110/WW296 and such here. But the info is nice, thanks.

A gentleman from Anchorage sent some of those to try, and after a push thru the cylinder, asked him for the rest of his stock. In mail now. Just put one on my scale, mind you these are PC'd, no lube, no gas check. It went 394 grs.. Just how much Longshot ya'll figure I'll need to just get these into 4 digits of velo using which cannelure ? Am thinking 'bout 11grs of Longshot, yes, I'll start some slower, and accuracy will be the final deciding factor. No chrono here. Maybe 9-10grs of Unique for same velos ?

Planning to load some 255s for a 45 Colt today... Nice mellow load straight from the book. Most likely with Unique.

I've been doing my high volume stuff before the summer season gets started. Finished loading about 4k 9mm today, 115 gr Raniers over 4.6 gr of Titegroup. Switched the press over to 38 Special, need to load about as many of those next.

Been looking for a load for my 640Pro 357. Pistol-Forum suggested a 135 Speer GDHP and a load of 9.0 of Power Pistol for a reasonable 357 load in a 2.25" J frame. Pistol Forum figured it would be doing 1,000fps from the 640. My 640 Pro shoots low with any bullet that isn't a 158 grain. Loaded up 50 of Hornady's 140XTPs and the 9.0 grains of Power Pistol and a standard Winchester primer. Took 10 to the range! 5 rounds into 1.5" at 10 yds but 3 inches low and dead on for windage. Yesterday took the same gun along with a Smith Model 69 to a farmers range and took the chronograph. The 357 load as listed above was traveling at an average speed of 1087fps. Elevation is 2720 and the Temp was 48 degrees. Measured velocity 6 ft from muzzle. Load is comfortable to shoot and recovery is fast.
The Model 69 44 was loaded with 210JHCs from Sierra, 12.2 grains of Longshot and a CCI 300 primer. Bullet crimped at the cannelure. Avg velocity for 5 rounds was 1206fps. This load has been very, very accurate. Easy to shoot 44 Magnum for thin skinned targets.

Just seated my first 385gr 480 HP's here. These the PC'd bullets from a Miha mold, per Dick and Hoover-san. My scale says they weigh 394grs as is. Also first try of Longshot powder. Erring on the side of caution, I think, the first charge weight is 10grs.. Seated them to the lower cannelure too. Test shots in a few, 50 and drizzle here now, yuck, but in the name of terminal ballistics, must move forward..

It's been a reloading weekend for me. Egad, my wrists even hurt from operating my press! 200 rounds 45 Colt, 255 gr SWC over 7.0 grains W231; 100 rounds 45 Colt, 264 grain SWC-HP, 12.5 grains Blue Dot; 12 rounds of snake shot with the Speer shot capsules, about 170 grains of shot, and 6.0 grains W231; 40 rounds 30-30, 122 grain powder coat LRN, 15.2 grains Blue Dot; 40 rounds 35 Remington, 195 grain Hunters RFP with 17 gr Blue Dot; 20 rounds 35 Rem, 125 jhp with 18 grains Blue Dot; 100 rounds 45 auto, Speer 200 grain jhp "flying ashtray," 10.5 grains Blue Dot; And the Pièce De Résistance, 100 rounds with my Callshot Fan Club 44 Special brass with a classic Keith SWC from Tennessee Valley Bullets over 12.5 grains Blue Dot. Can you tell I'm trying to use up some Blue Dot?
