encore64 I am curious about this load. You probably will get about 950 FPS with your chrony. I have a little info about that load and some others with unique. I have loaded 9.5 grs of Unique with 200 grain lead and shot it out of my Colt SAA. I know that is 60 grains less, and I would not shoot the load you are using out of my colt. But You are right, you are maybe a little over 20,000 psi Let us know what kind of velocity you are getting. I have a load I use in my Ruger, W231 9.5 grains with a 260 SWC Similar......
Anyway Loaded 50 rounds of 45 Colt for my Ruger BH Used 20grains of 2400 with a 280 grain SWC for a mild Sunny day.

I am going to test in my Redhawk first. If they seem too hot for the small frame gun, I will just use them in other guns.

I'd love to hear of some loads you gents have worked up for the new Ruger Super Blackhawks in .454 and .480. I don't have either yet but it's inevitable that I will end up with one or both...
Thanks,
John

Last night I had the Lee Loadmaster running like a sewing machine. I made about 340 rounds of 9mm for my S&W revolver. For my last hundred, I started a stopwatch. 8 minutes on the money. That's 750 rounds per hour. Too bad I read on the internet that these things are no good...

Didn't get anything loaded, but I fired up my little Lee pot for the first time since about 1990. Poured about 150 good slugs from a used Lee 400-476.
Although the bottom band Mic's at .476- .477, the front bands Mic at .474. I figure some powder coat will bring it up and a quick run through a sizing die and I should have useable plinkers.
Fingers crossed! Waiting on the Miha group buy to cast some hp's.

Loaded up some test rounds using RCBS 476-400 with 13.5 to 15.5 grains of 2400. Now if only I could get the SBH 480 that I ordered. In the meantime, my MP mold came in yesterday so I'll occupy myself by casting up a few of those.

40 rounds of 44 mag using 250 gr Nosler partition over 23.5 grs of H-110 in RP case and Fed. 155M primer. I used this load last week to take 2 boar and it proved very accurate in my Dan Wesson 744. Pressure was good....

50 rounds of .480 Ruger for the Bisley. Heard good things about 21 grains of H-110 with CCI 350 primers and lead bullets from the LEE 400-476 mold. Gonna give it a go tomorrow if the rain holds out.

Loaded several rounds of test loads today for my Ruger Blackhawk 30 carbine, this is a new model that had been through Gary Reeders shop before I bought it. Its been Taylor throated, has the inverted muzzle crown, free spin pawl, action job, gold bead front sight, V rear sight & the chrome X bluing. I like it except for the gold bead & the V rear, plus it shoots about 5 inches high at 25 yds. But, the accuracy has been good with 2 different loads today. First up was 3.5 grs. of 231 with a powder coated 113 gr. GC bullet sized .313" & loaded in 32/20 brass. The second load is the old Lyman #311410 plain base 134 gr. RN that duplicates factory hard ball ammo. I loaded 4 grs. of 231 with this bullet & didn't size it after powder coating, it measured .313" as well. It shot into just over 1" at 25 yds but over 5" high, I'll have to get a taller bead front or change the rear sight, something has to go, I don't like this sight set up at all.

Fowler, now THAT'S a box full of happiness, and maybe a full freezer too ! Na they will be destined for steel plates and cardboard. 2-6 alloy is about 18 for a hardness, too hard for hunting, it doubtful they would open at all on a deer and if they did they would likely shear off. I cast hunting bullets from 1/2 2-6 alloy and 1/2 pure lead and get the hardness down to about 12 or so. The bullet should open and hold together much better at that hardness when run at this same 1050fps. But thanks for the kind words. Don't worry I have plenty more bullets cast softer for hunting if I decide to carry this gun this fall.
