I loaded up a few rounds of 480 Ruger for my JRH mid frame new vaquero. 10gr of Universal under a hand cast LBT 370gr LFN. I haven't shot it over the chrono yet, but it's a nice mild accurate load.

Just a few more wrist twisting 500L. Gas checked 400gr MBW , LFN ahead of a healthy dose of 2400. Still trying to master the big bores.

Was given by a friend 200 new .30-30 Winchester cases & spent most of the day trimming them down to 30 Herretts.

I'm so tired of reloading 9mm. I got my Lee Loadmaster about 3/4 set up, so I cranked that until i mercifully ran out of clean brass.
Then I reset the Classic Turret to load some 500JRH. It felt good to handload some real ammo. Quickly ran out of brass there too, but it was satisfying anyway. The threads on 500`s inspired me. 440grs over a small pile of H110.

Camp member with a SP101 gave me a box of Speer shot capsules and asked me to make'em up some snake loads. Never used the capsules before, I mean to load. Have had the factory loaded versions around here for many yrs.. Am popping out primer by hand so as not to size down the brass that is a good fit as is. Once fired .38 stuff. Don't see the need for mag cases.

300 Rounds of 45 ACP for the center fire and 45 match on the Dillon 1050, 200 rounds of 38 Special for DSR on the Dillon 550B, a few 38 Super on the SDB to test.... Haven't converted a progressive press to another caliber this year!

Encore, Not questioning your loads but, how did you decide to load 9.5 gr of Unique with a 260 gr bullet in a flat top? I routinely load 8.5 gr and occasionally 9.0 but have not gone higher simply because I've got nothing to go on.

Shakey, thats a great question. I have done so much reaearch, glad somebody asked.
Handloader #246, page 14, list a section of load data for the 45 Colt. It provides data up to 20,000 psi. Since the 45 acp is 21,000 psi, I believe this is safe.
Brian Pearce used 10.0 grns of Unique behind a 285 grn bullet for maximum of 20,000 psi.
Other reference was from John Linebaugh's web site. He lists 10.5 grns Unique with a 260 grn bullet for 24,800 psi.
Dropping 1.0 grn should reduce the pressure considerably with this fast powder.
These two guys are close on their data and know the 45 Colt better than anybody.
I hope this helps and remember this. We believe the little flattop safe to 23,000 psi because of its chambering of the 45 acp +P. Ruger builds a tremendous safety factor in their guns.
So, while we know for fact its safe to 23,000 psi, that doesnt give us the max its safe to. Only fact we know, so I am sticking with it.

Thanks encore64. I may not go to the 9.5 gr load but I sure will feel more comfortable with 9.0 gr. Got any idea what your veocities are?
