I agree with the others. The 69 will be one of the last to go if it got down to that. It size and being a 44 mag just makes it the PPP.

Thank you Paul for your continued model 69 reports. I finally got one and am beginning to understand why you own two of them.

I picked up my Model 69 Friday. No chance to shoot it yet, I'm going to try it with these Pachmayr compacs and see how it goes. I'll bring along a set of Hogue finger groove grips and a set of Hogue 500 grips, just in case.

Grips are really personal -- have a set of those pachys and they don't work for me. If they work for you, GREAT!
Had my #2 gun out yesterday and today. Mostly shot 240gr laser cast w/ 6.7 gr HP38, seated deep. Also shot some 200gr Horn over 17.5gr A2400. Surprisingly, these two loads hit pretty close to the same POI. I really like these guns -- have two, may have to order a third just to make sure I'm covered.
Warhawk -- Love to hear your impression. Also, are the sights regulated for .44 Mag ammo.

First impression is that the action is a bit heavier than I expected. The double action pull is not bad, very smoot, just a bit heavy. Effort to cock the hammer for single action seems a bit heavy. Single action trigger pull has some grittiness to it.
I'm hoping it will improve with use.

Sitting on carter mountain wearing my, 69. The Acton on mine is wearing in, it's smoother already and only two hundred or so rounds. Filing a taller front sight in the evenings. Should be ready to regulate Friday. Nineteen of WC820 and the Noe 429421 hits right on top of the front sight with the rear sight bottomed. Nine of power pistol and same bullet is four inches high. Also I fire lapped ten rounds, the EDM bore is smoother but needs more lapping. Really like this gun, a lot Frank

I am filing one out of some 4140 flat stock. I super glued the red ramp onto the flat stock, scribed the outline of the base for a rough guide and started filing. Scribed lines for the top and hacksawed the excess off. I'll take some pics if you want. This stuff is not hard to do. A good vise is the most important tool.

The sight is working just fine. I've got quite a few more rounds through it and the double action is smoother and a little lighter. Probably need to shoot it today......
