yep sold 3 this week. I am trimming the collection down, but refused to co-sign the SALT II treaty...there will be NO unilateral disarmament. I will probably sell one of these .44 mag MGs soon Keep a .44 and a .357 686+ MG.

Just re-read this thread. Great info here. Think I am going to pull the trigger on getting this one. Just seams like a great woods walking gun.

As far as I know, the 69 is not on the CA approved list. Does anyone know if it ever will?

Perfect example of government run a muck. They have made stupidity an art form. If it weren't for the idiots I'd move back to my state of origin. You can't fix stupid, so I'll remain in Montana.
I don't know the process for "listing", but suspect it will occur at some point in time as the M69 is no different from currently listed S&W revolvers. Hang in there.
Sorry that you are subject to this obvious stupidity.
FWIW,
Paul

I have a Glock 42 bought on CA Single Shot Exemption. Great CCW carry gun and as reliable as my G23 I have in the home.
I usually carry my G23 while hiking. Looking for a bigger gun for that, and the 69 seems to be ideal. I have a Ruger SBH 44, but looking for something a little lighter, and DA.
Not sure how CA's new primer ID requirements apply to revolvers. Seams the casings would not be left at a crime scene, so not subject to the new crazy law. Last I looked the SW 69 was not on CA's approved list. May need to look at a used 629 Mtn Gun. They are pricey

Heard back from S&W. They have a 69 with the CA DOJ going through testing. Just have to be patient.

Just bought one today from my local gun store. Size seams like it will be a perfect woods gun. And the versatility of it being a 44 mag. Now I got to order me a simply rugged pancake. Hope to get it out this weekend and give her a test run.

I see they are now on the CA approved list. Now need to figure out if I really need one. I know I want one

Any updates from the M69 owners?
I got all excited about the Ruger 454 and 480 announcement ... Then I started thinking about a few things. My surgically repaired hands, both of them, being the biggest concern. But I've definitely got the new gun bug. I had read up on the 69 when it came out, and pretty much written it off in favor of my pair of 629 Mountain Guns. But I watched Hickok45's video tonight and realized just how much smaller the 69 is compared to a 4 inch 29.
This just might be a gun I'd use a lot.

I don't mean to be a Debbie downer but I with the m69 and the unsupported center pin at the end of the ejector I would be concerned about center pin float. See my smith 327pc thread.

I have two. 4,500 rnds (40% mid level to full .44 mag) thru one and 1,600 (60% mid/full .44 mag) thru the other. For reference, Mid level is a 265gr SWGC at 1,140 fps. Federal factory 240gr JHPs chrono 1,215 fps and 21.0gr A2400 under a 250gr CSWC (429421) chrono 1,250 fps. I have shot Beartooth 325gr LFNGC at a chronoed 1,180 fps (load from Hodgdon) with no problems FWIW. These would be the last to go if I had to trim the heard. FWIW, Paul

I love mine. It would be one of the last to go if I ever had to see everything off. Perfect combination of weight, recoil, barrel length, overall size and accuracy.
