Right you are Mr. Bradshaw. I think my impression of this new pistol is clouded by my comparing it to a couple 1970 era model 14s and the model 13 that was my first duty pistol. I was issued, and carried, S&W model 66 & 686, before switching to a personal model 645 so I am also familiar with the needs of a stainless S&W. I heavily lubed the Model 69 with Breakfree (LP) before starting my dry firing break-in activities. To the new Model 69's credit it is beginning to smooth up some. I just think someone in Quality Control/Inspection should have flagged this one for a "little more love" before sending it out. But again, that's because I have enough experience with them that I know how good the S&W double action can be. I thought long & hard about going with the 2 3/4" Model 69, vs the similar mod 629 or 4" 629, but the interest in keeping the pistol close-in and snag-proof won out over the slightly large 629. I want to like this Model 69, and just like when my wife repaints a room or moves the furniture, I suspect I'll come around eventually. Best Regards to all, especially to you Mr. Bradshaw.

With the 69 talk giving this one a bump again. So much good info on this gun in one place.
