Nicely done. Don't know if I mentioned it above (and I'm too lazy to look), but I put a Bowen rear sight on one of my M69s to address the "shoots high" syndrome. My second M69 wears the factory sights and is dedicated to 240s at a little under 900 fps which it shoots to POA at 25 yds. Still problem free after 4,500rnds and 1,500rnds respectively.

Appreciate the photos Warhawk!Like the Hogues, do you have a stock # for them? Did you get them locally or did you order them direct from Hogue?
Paul 105, you get to shoot yours much more than I do mine, I appreciate you sharing your journey with these Smiths. I'm just getting ready to break the 500 round mark with mine. Have a day off tomorrow and will be shooting the 69 first up, then my new SP 101.

Paul, tried to shoot it today. The old pain in my thumb is back. Do the x frame grips work to eliminate that? Thanks Frank

Frank,
They work for me, not sure if they'll work for you. I have altered my grip a bit over time. I don't hold my gun hand thumb down and lock the support hand thumb over it. I hold the gun as high as possible, but leave my gun hand thumb up and totally relaxed (like it was resting on a thumb rest). You have to fool with this a bit to get it comfortable for you.

These are both round butt conversion grips.

One hanging on the used hooks here now... Haven't gotten brave enough to see how it is priced.

Been practicing, 20 yards, weaver stance. Load is 240LSWC 8.0 Power Pistol, WW primer and Starline brass. I pulled the third shot, pressure was off and the last two followed the first two. Love this gun and load more every time I use it. Also adjusted the sights. This is becoming my if you have to hit something "grab the 69" gun.

I got to see and hold one in a very nice gun shop in Leesburg Va a couple of days ago. Very nice ! It fits nicely between my Bulldog and the N-frames,RH's,etc.. Guess I'd rather have a 44spec GP, but the M69 may tempt me yet.

With the x frame grips in place, I can shoot this lovely little five gun. Tried with my thumb high, the cylinder latch ate a hole in my thumb. Relieved of the sharp edges it is now very shootable and still very very accurate. Have been practicing reloads using cartridge strips, maybe someday I'll be half as fast as Rob Leahy. But he's much younger.......

450ak,
Only relaying what has worked for me, which has evolved and changed over time. If the cyl release latch is hitting your thumb, then your thumb is no where near as high as I hold mine, but if it works for you, that's all that counts.
Just as a point of reference, my hand is at the top of the grip, my thumb is along the side of the hammer and hand is positioned so that when the gun returns from recoil, the front sight is aligned with the target (with isosoles stance).
Decided I like these guns so much that I took delivery of #3 today. The first two (first quarter of 2014) shot high with .44 Mag ammo and with the rear sight bottomed out. The #3 has a lower rear sight blade -- so I must not have been the only one. Unfortunately, it looks like the barrel may be canted left a bit. I'll shoot it tomorrow to see if this is a problem.
The recoil handling qualities of these guns (with the X Frame grips) continues to surprise favorably.
No problems so far. Gun 1 has 2,200 rnds and Gun 2 has 4,600. A good number of those loads are 265gr SWCGC at 1,140fps (actual chrono).

Paul what is your load (powder charge) for a 265 at 1150?
