You can look at a previous thread called grip shopping and see some culina grips on mine. Now THAT'S a huge improvement! Those look great!

Those Culina grips are a functional piece of art. Gorgeous wood and expertly crafted.
I received word today that Lobo just shipped my Tom Threepersons holster for the 69 earlier today. Should have it by Friday pm. Will post pics in new thread.

Got a Smith 69 in the store. Was going to buy it on arrival till I realized how much I already had on lay away! Anyhow, I did some measuring on the new Smith and was delighted. No restriction in the bore and the throats were .4295". I was very impressed with how it felt in the hand and LOVE the overall size of the thing.

2 Dogs, it is the "handiness" of the 69 that doesn't come out in pics. First one I picked and checked it for heft, balance and size I bought it! Mine is really accurate and I've posted a couple of pics of offhand shooting with my 69. Just put Ahrends Cocobolo combats on it we will see how that works.

Trusting Photobucket to come through, here is a pic of my 69 with Wood grips and in a Lobo Tom Threepersons holster, Bianchi Cartridge slide(from the old days) and a Lobo belt. As promised on Friday

Dave, I have both the older straight and the Mountain Gun tapered barrels on various 29s and 629s. It really makes a difference for carrying and actual shooting. I used to carry my MG every day, all day. I wanted the lighter weight. The 329 wasn't out yet when I started w/ my Mg, when it came out I couldn't afford it, and later did not care to switch. The Straight barreled .44s are a bit tamer to shoot, for sure, the "Classic" (Silly name choice by S&W) full under lug guns REALLY tame it down, but I hate to lug them around all day. Like CAS stated I have a MG, I doubt I will want a M69, but I think it is great that S&W has made a easy to carry packin pistol in a .44 magnum for the next generation of outdoorsman to carry& use.

I am sure I would net negative income if I worked at a gunshop.

Brian Pearce did a write up on the M69 in the current (Dec'14/Jan'15) issue of Handloader magazine. Also covered the 396/696 .44 spcials in the same issue. John Haviland did likewise on the 329PD.
FWIW,
Paul
