Lee, Many years ago there was an article in a gun mag (Rifleman?) on convering a 1917 Colt to a hawkeye type single shot. Not real difficult. Replace cylinder with breech block with long firing pin, chamber barrel.

sixgunluvr, who did the barrel work on that bisley? what brand of barrel? what kind of loads are you shooting and performance? RE: Super BlackHawk "Sweet 16" I honestly don't now who did the barrel work. I do have a SBH Dragoon grip frame and trigger...just need the hammer to make it a SBH Dragoon. I also don't have a chronograph..... so i'm also wondering what 23.9gr of H110 behind a 240gr XTP bullet will give me.....i'm guessing around 1600fps. This stainless 9 1/2 " Single Six " Star Model" was campaigned really HARD in IHMSA .22 matches for years before I retired it. I wore out 2 Ruger rear sights clicking back & forth for each distance (it now wears a Bowen Target rear), and its on its second trigger/hammer job rebuild. After I retired it from competition, I had Ruger fit a .22 Magnum cylinder, and Gordon Logan did a complete polishing and bead blasting aesthetics job on the scratched and worn old warrior, before I fitted a set of Lett buffalo horn grips. It still shoots as well as most any accurate .22: ![](http://i855.photobucket.com/albums/ab114/kenoneill/Handgun%20Photos/100_1640.jpg) Okay, its not a single action, but still.... I established the superb accuracy of this SRH before any other work was done. Gordon Logan did the barrel fluting, bead blasting, polishing and some other things. Its about a 2 MOA revolver: This "Special Build" FA .475 Linebaugh has been a great performer on bull elk, South American water buffalo, and bison. ![](http://i855.photobucket.com/albums/ab114/kenoneill/Handgun%20Photos/9in275Lno2-2.jpg) Finally, the accuracy crown jewel among my revolvers, a FA 353, shown first in its rather unwieldy target guise - in which it has on occasion shown itself to be a true 1 MOA revolver, and below that, in its more practical hunting format, where it is still a more than adequate deer killer: ![](http://i855.photobucket.com/albums/ab114/kenoneill/Handgun%20Photos/100_1673.jpg) ![](http://i855.photobucket.com/albums/ab114/kenoneill/Handgun%20Photos/100_1686.jpg) Over the years, I also owned 2 blued tapered barrel 10 1/2" SBH's and 1 stainless bull barrel version. One of the blued guns, in particular, was extremely accurate and was also campaigned hard in IHMSA matches during the '80's. Sadly, all went on to other homes. Certainly though, as much as I've enjoyed them, I must say that none of my long barrel revolvers compare to Boge's jewel posted above.

very nice. does the standard hammer with those scopes bother you or are they in the way? The clearance is quite adequate. They are, of course, cocked with the thumb in the deep curve of the hammer, not at the tip of it. Note, too, that the largest diameter of the eyepiece is to the rear of that deep curve of the hammer, not over it, which thus affords maximum clearance.

Ok. Don't laugh too much. ![](http://i426.photobucket.com/albums/pp348/bigbore442001/Rhode%20Island%20Pictures/RI%20Hunting/BSL11RugerSSRISpecial_zpsd1ed13ab.jpg) Much of my handgun hunting here in southern New England is restricted to small game and varmints.
