It looks like that because when I got the gun it had a factory Ruger sight and blued grip frame. I sent it back to John along with a Bowen sight and the brass bisley frame and he went all through the gun, fit the brass grip frame and made the stocks and reblued it. It did not look like that when I bought it, that's for sure.

Taking delivery of this revolver later this week. It's my Williams Shooter Supply .45 Colt Bisley that was sent to Huntington for some grips and a tune up. I'll shoot some better photos of it when I get it in my mitts: Base gun: Ruger Bisley Gunsmith: Jack Huntington Caliber: .45 Colt - Bisley Hunter .44 Mag cylinder rechambered to .45 Colt Barrel: 5 1/2" FA 83 barrel Front sight: Huntington with interchangeable blades Rear sight: stock Ruger (Bowen Target on order) Basepin: Belt Mountain knurled Finish: standard stainless steel Gripframe: Huntington Reshaped Bisley Grips: Claro walnut by Huntington - wood supplied by Steve That ought to work. Really nice. Missing being away from my sixguns and sixgunsmith's. Hell getting a handgun license down here. Much worse than Canada was. After three months I still await my license that will allow me to acquire and possess rifles (single shot, bolt or lever action only), shotguns (breaking and lever action only), air rifles or handgun and a crossbow (IIRC)....

I was asked to add this to the blueprint thread, so here goes. This is an Alan Harton built Ruger Bisley Hunter chambered in 414 SuperMag. The gun started out as a well worn 357 Maximum with a 7 1/2" barrel. I sourced a 41 Hunter barrel from Clements, an extra max cylinder from Robb, and sent the parts down to Alan. He overthreaded the barrel into the Max frame, as the threads are different between the two barrels. He then had to weld some gaps up between the hunter barrel and the max frame. He took the new cylinder and chambered it to 41 caliber and added the black powder chamfers. The bisley frame came from Alan, and he hand fit it to the max frame. The grip wood is walnut, purchased from Steve on this forum and Alan made the grips. He added the #5 base pin, free spin pawl and trigger/action job. The finish is hard chrome from Mahovsky. Since these pics were taken I have added a Bowen rear sight. The idea behind this gun was to have a one of a kind custom that looked distinctly like a factory Ruger gun. I think Alan pulled it off perfectly. Greg

The one that started it all for me Base gun: New model Blackhawk Gunsmith: JRH Caliber: 500JRH Barrel: 4 5/8" mfr unknown Front sight: Weigand DX interchangeable Rear sight: S&W J frame Basepin: Belt Mountain locking Finish: Turnbull CCH and JRH blue Gripframe: JRH reshaped Bisley Grips: Rams horn the color of Rapunzels' hair fitted by Lou Rosso NOTE: The gun was built for a man named Gary who has a great relationship with Lou, who's love is to polish metal and make grips. Where the grip frame and the cylinder frame come together it appears as one piece. A sharp fingernail cannot perceive the difference between the two. There's over one hundred hours of polishing on this gun.

Mike what's the story on those two? That's a tiny barrel compared to the JRH. Do you know what specie of ram that horn is? I do not

Both are Dall horn from Fishpaw. The bottom gun is a Bowen Nimrod with the scalloped recoil shield and coloring. The top gun is a Bowen longhunter with a dovetail rear sight and as you noted a pretty light barrel. It is noticeably more lively than the Nimrod. They're 5 shot 45 Colts.

Here's a pair of Bowen Nimrods wearing sheep horn stocks. The blued one is a 44 mag with oversize 6 shot cylinder; sheep horn by Patrick Grashorn. The stainless one is a 5 shot 45 Colt; sheep horn by Roy Fishpaw.
