I am new to this forum as of today. I recently added a NIB Super Blackhawk in 44 magnum with 7 1/2" barrel to my battery. I don't have a holster for it yet and have looked at the websites of several makers of Old West gunleather. The one that I am looking at is David Carrico in CA. According to his website, he has furnished leather gear for such westerns as The Assassination of Jesse James, The Missing and The Homesman. Does anyone out there have any experience with this line of gunleather? Any replies welcome.

I saw him featured on a segment of "HOW IT WORKs" on T.V. Looks like a Pro.

Haven't had any personal experience, but he seems to enjoy a good reputation. Another I could highly recommend is Rick Bachman at Old West Reproductions--he has an extensive collection of vintage holsters and bases his patterns on those. Excellent stuff.

Yeah, I am waiting on a holster from Rick right now and just talked him on the phone today. Can't wait for it to arrive. Which of his holsters do you have?

BTW, when I contacted David Carrico after I posted this inquiry about making a holster for me, he told me that he doesn't build holsters for Blackhawk type revolvers. So I moved on and kept looking until I found Rick Bachman at Old West Reproductions. Rick will make your holster for your SPECIFIC type of gun.
