Looking at new and used Colt SAAs, some come in a blue plastic case and others come in the Colt Custom Shop paper box...
Was just wondering what the difference between them was. Sometimes the CS guns have special grips or different color screws but some just look like ones in the plastic box..
Thanks..Bob

There has been 2 7.5" and one 10" on GunBroker in the last 90 days...one of the 7.5s was an octagon with a dot sight...also look on GunsInternational.com and GunsAmrica...
Because of the now two year wait prices are up a little. Another way to go is find a short barrel for the right price and have it rebarreled...

If anyone is looking for a FA 97 4.25" round butt, black Micarta stocks in the box there is one on GunBroker with a $2150 BuyNow...
My friend sold his square butt a few months ago for the same price...

I handed the DW, 357 Magnum. Looked very clean except for one small rust spot on the frame.
I would call and ask...

..don't think the chinese were smart enough to invent it...as usual they usurped it... Believe the inventor was from Europe. Saw a YouTube video the other day where he was saying he wished he had never invented it...

Sometimes when you can buy the right used base gun, one can send it back to FA and have back what one wants in 2-3 weeks...
Just have to add up the cost of the modifications and add it to the base gun price plus shipping...
Found a 83/.41/6.5" that had already been back to the factory to be round butted... Bought the gun for $1850 and had it back in three weeks with a 4.75" barrel...for about $2100+- total. At the time one of the big FA dealers had the exact same gun but with black Micarta grips for $3k...

Have got the Pachmayer Compact size grip on my two. The ones with the full backstrap and small pinky-finger groove...they are ok to shoot with .357s...
Still have a set of Pachmayer Presentation full size grips that turn it into a square butt...haven't tried them yet.
Just picked up a 60-4 .38 Special like James's gun from a friend who is downsizing...have had two before and are great shooters...

Thread Drift...to make it clear
SINGLE ACTION (only)
Make, model, caliber, barrel length, how carried
Load: factory or handload. Load for urban and/or woods
Thanks....Bob
ps...since the majority of shots fired in defense by both LE and civilians miss the intended target anyway, actual passthroughs that hit someone...you gotta better chance with the PowerBall...

...thank you all for the replies so far....
I'm mainly a .41 guy, both Magnum and Special, but have recently "expanded" into .44 Magnum and .45 Colt...
.44s: 1957 Ruger Flat Top 3-Screw 4 5/8" 1958 Ruger Flat Top 3-Screw 6 1/2"
.45 Colt: Ruger NM 4 5/8" Colt SAA 4 3/4" Uberti Birdshead 3.5"
The .45 Colts will be run with some variation of the 452423 Keith solid or HP in the 900-1000 fps range. Don't think here in New England there is a need for more than that...
For .44 bullets there is a MP Keith 430421 with solid, PP and HP pins in the 250-260 range and an Accurate 43-235V witha .39 meplat...that one will be run in the 900s...still working on the Keith loads but will be between 1000-1200..
